Read Harvey's Myspace blog. He says that it will be put off until his new Broadway show opens, but that he plans on doing it in the near future.
I saw him in it on Broadway and he was fantastic! I can't wait until he starts touring with it, but we'll have to wait about another 2 to 3 years.
Oh well! Great new show of his coming up, can't wait for that either.
EDIT: Here's a link to the blog. He says it at the end: https://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=64572550&blogID=245641804&MyToken=5e5796bc-a470-4bd8-8b09-109a3e907069
Hope this happens. The tour will do incredibly well with him headlining it.
That's wonderful! I'm glad I'll get the chance to see him as Tevye!
Frankly, I was disappointed with both the production and with Harvey as Tevye. Didn't find him believable, and hated his takes on the songs. Will he be that big a draw outside of NYC? Of course, a show like Fiddler doesn't necessarily need a name.

I second madbrian.
I found his performance extremely underwhelming and I too felt he ruined some of the songs with his gravely delivery. To each his own and I wish the tour well
Geeze, wasn't it bad enough for him to ruining the show on Broadway? Now he want to bring his lousy performance to tour the nation.
i saw him twice in fiddler. His voice is very different, but I enjoyed him. I thought the recent revival was great except for when they brought in rosie o donnel..i like her, but she is not for broadway
Rosie and Harvey were both fantastic.
I would love to see him in Fiddler again. I just hope the tour will be a remounting of the revival and still be directed by David Leveaux and that they keep "Topsy-Turvy". I thoroughly enjoyed the show as it was on Broadway and would hate to see Harvey thrown out on a new national tour unrelated to the revival.
He was good with the exception of Little Bird..... such a bad number..... he just couldn't sing it.... Andrea Martin should tour with him because she was FANTASTIC

I was always suprised to see that this show didn't tour. It ran for a suprising two years on Broadway. I'm glad it will finally tour, in the "near" future.
Cool! I really hope this comes to NorCal.

I saw it with both Andrea Martin and Rosie O'Donnell and I liked Rosie's performance over Andrea's. I loved boith of them, but Rosie just seemed like the classic Jewish mother on stage. lol.
I liked Rosie's performance better as well, she added a lot more comedy and character to her role. Her maternal instict also showed very well, and at the same time, she was 'the man' of the house. She was perfection. Im sorry for anyone who missed her performance in the show.
I saw the OBC and never thought I'd see it again, since I wasn't thrilled, but Rosie and Harvey really did wonders for that show.
Harvey was at Spring Awakening last night. FYI

Yes, OMW. I read his new blog!
Loved Harvey, Loved Andrea, Loved the revival.
The production was god awful, but he was spectacular. I hated the show when I saw it with Molina. He was lifeless and dull, though that worked with the concept of the show. Harvey brought some life into it.
i saw Alfred Molina and Harvey, and i enjoyed Alfred more. I think he had more of a fatherly characteristic.
I love me some Harvey, but I thought he was awful in FIDDLER.
Completely miscast - was all stunt casting.

I didn't get Harvey Fierstein at all. He got such rave reviews. I went ready to love him. He seemed so much like a clown not a father. All the emotional scenes with his daughters fell flat. The show was excellent though. He couldn't ruin that for me. I saw the actress Lori Wilner as Golda she was in between Andrea Martin and Rosie and she was incredible all the daughters especially Sally Murphy were top notch. Harvey Fierstein was yelling at me at the stage door. I think he thought I was some else and wouldn’t even sign my playbill. I think he’s loosing it. He used to be so friendly.

What do you mean he was yelling at you? What did he say?
Every time I've met him he was very friendly.

He said i will not sign for you I already signed the playbill. (which he didn't ) Then I had a La Cage playbill and said started saying I'm just going to sell and and I guess he had a helper with him and said I'm not going to sign anything for him. I think he was only signing fiddler items anyway.

Harvey's voice only brought out of the wonders of the book and lyrics, making it impossible not to listen. What ruined the production was the look of a Long Island garden party that it had. I kept expecting white-jacketed waiters to cross the stage carrying trays of martinis. Harvey and Andrea Martin were wonderful?
