Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strike ended?

I heard that Spring Awakening did not collect for Broadway Cares on Wednesday evening or last Thursday. Were those just weird exceptions or have they given up on collecting at all? Also, does anyone know which cast members are doing the actual collecting?

I think the collecting is over. In the past two weeks, I've seen THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, PETER & JERRY, THE RITZ, and IS HE DEAD? and none of these shows made any announcement or asked for donations at the door.

It has nothing to do with SPRING AWAKENING.

Since the strike ended, I have seen THE SEAFARER, THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, THE RITZ, SPELLING BEE, CYMBELINE, THE GRINCH, THINGS WE WANT, and DIE MOMMIE DIE! and the only show that has collected was DIE MOMMIE DIE! (two nights ago).

Well...for FARNSWORTH, CYMBELINE & SEAFARER, the all opened this week...and the collection usually starts after a shows official opening. Don't know if they're going to join the collecting.

My understanding is that shows that are in previews at the beginning of the collection period typically do not collect at all (although there are exceptions), and shows that were not affected by the strike stopped collecting last week, which was the scheduled end of the collection period. That explains just about all of the non-collection described in this thread, but it doesn't explain the erratic collecting at Spring Awakening, though.

re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik

I was in the city last week and Legally Blonde, Xanadu, Young Frankenstein, The Color Purple, and Spring Awakening were all collecting.

My favorite was last Friday night (11/30) when Jonathan Groff was giving his Broadway Cares speech...

"And we have these...TATTOOS! They're...removable! You can remove them with...water..."

lol I made fun of him at the stage door for that and he laughed.

LBB's Broadway Cares speech last Sunday was also entertaining and in Cheyenne's after Xanadu he gave a shout out to Patti Murn for it being her first performance as Kira/Clio...he's sweet.

I know for a fact that YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, which was not affected by the strike, is collecting tomorrow night.

re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik

Spring Awakening decided not to continue past the original collection date, despite the fact that they missed almost 3 weeks during the strike. That is so lame of them, given what a hit Broadway Cares is taking. They had the potential to really make a difference, but I'm told on pretty good authority that the majority of actors just don't care.

YF is still collecting. Even though they weren't affected by the strike, they started late.

Saw Little Mermaid the friday after teh strike ended and they were not collecting, which goes along with the shows in previews not collecting.

I find this hard to believe. I don't know that many actors but the ones I do take BCEFA very seriously and they care a lot.

Yes, Curtains is still collecting. hey did on Wednesday afternoon when I saw it. David Hyde Pierce gave a wonderful speech after the curtain call. He had everyone in the palm of his hand and they ran for the red buckets to donate. It was nice to see.

"I don't know any authority that can speak for the majority of actors. They don't know what the majority does or doesn't care about."

I know someone in the show who said there was very little interest and those who were passionate about it, couldn't convince the majority. Obviously, someone is putting the kibosh on it or they'd still be collecting.

re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik

Since there was a Strike and collecting was interupted, I see no excuse for any show, even those in previews not to collect to make up the slack.
A little more time and a chance for the audience to see the actors "out of character" and helping people in need is never out of place.
Boo to the companies not helping out.
I hope none of them ever get sick and need help.
