re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik

LB collected at Today's (12/re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik matinee.

(I was pretty proud of my 8th graders...about 75% of them donated.)

I picked up a copy of Carols for a Cure.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Frankenstein was collecting last night and had signed posters for sale. Hunter said they had up until last night raised $8200 and were hoping to clear $10K before they closed today.

When I saw Curtains a week and a half ago, they were collecting. But I don't know when they started.

re: Has Spring Awakening been collecting for Broadway Cares since the strik

As someone outside the industry, can someone help me understand why a cast would not want to collect? I understand that there are more people involved in that decision than just the cast (for example, the dressers/security/etc have to wait for the cast members to finish collecting before they can go home), and we do not know who the decision-makers are at Spring Awakening or any other show. But in terms of the cast itself, if the actor is not interested in participating, all they have to do as far as I know is stay on stage for about 2 - 3 more minutes while the announcement is being made (or they could just scoot off at the beginning of the announcement along with the collectors and not spend any additional time onstage), so how much are they really affected? I'm sincerely asking -- I imagine that there might be parts of the equation I'm not taking into account.

You are actually correct.
If anyone wants to leave, no one stops them.
And yes it means staying a few more mins. each show.
As far as the other crew members. every show I have worked on, there is always someone willing to stay to do the pick up work.
It really is embarrasing that people have more important things to do then help others less fortunate then themselves.

Saw Curtains last Wednesday afternoon and they collected. They also had signed playbills and posters. Hyde Pierce also talked about the Christmas CD and said it was also onsale at the theater. Saw August:Osage County last Thursday and they didn't collect. I have given off-Broadway in the past and Fuerzabruta didn't collect yesterday. The Homecoming didn't collect on Saturday afternoon when I saw it but I read on another thread that shows don't collect until they officially open. I don't get that.
