Hedwig to Tour
#2Hedwig to Tour
Posted: 3/2/15 at 10:41amI think it's odd that it has not showed up on any seasons that have been announced yet.

Posted: 3/2/15 at 10:43amVery excited about this. Who might star? Any chance Lena Hall is leaving the Broadway production to go on the road?

Posted: 3/2/15 at 10:54amLena will most likely not be going on tour. But maybe Andrew Rannells or Anthony Rapp will star in the tour.

Posted: 3/2/15 at 11:36amI saw the tour for the original production with Kevin Cahoon twice. It only made it to one city.

Don't be too sure about this - slots on their site do not guarantee a future life. Lots of shows end up on The Road Company's website and then do not tour.

Posted: 3/2/15 at 11:52amI still think Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins would make amazing stars of this show.

DId BWW just accidentally reveal that Anthony Rapp is playing Hedwig on tour?
The release that Hedwig is touring includes a Rapp's bio.

You guys missed a line:
"Rapp portrayed the title character in regional productions in 2003."

Posted: 3/2/15 at 5:03pmI am a copy editor at an advertising firm. The Rapp mention is something I would point out, as it clearly doesn't belong in the release (or is missing a transitional paragraph).

Posted: 3/2/15 at 10:19pmI wonder if the tour won't start until 2016. A lot of the big cities have announced their seasons already and none of them include HEDWIG.

I think what is also telling is that yes, they did mention that Anthony Rapp played the role in regional theatres, but so did Andrew Rannells at the ZACH in Austin. It just seemed out of place that they only mentioned Rapp.
It is possible that it is due to the fact that Rapp played Hedwig at multiple venues rather than just one, but it still seemed a little out of place. That being said, Rapp has a solid career in NYC, so it would be an interesting choice if he toured (though they may need a big name in the more conservative markets).

Posted: 3/2/15 at 10:23pmRapp's name was thrown in there because they initially copied and pasted the shows info from the article about Rapp tweeting he would play the role agin in a heartbeat.

"We have plans for our production of Hedwig to spread nationally, and to Europe, Asia and Australia, so it’s very exciting. As far as touring goes, now that I’ve done it and opened it up again, I would never say never. "
