Helen Shaw's review of "The Saviors"

I disagree. I think she's an insightful critic and a brilliant writer and the best thing to happen to the NYT in years. But I respect your opinion.

This play is so good! Her review has SOOOOO many spoilers it's a shame.

Go see it if you like good theater!

It's a very interesting and sweetly earnest play. While the two young actors gave physically compelling performances, I wish the director had worked with them a bit more on their enunciation. Much of what they had to say was rushed and incomprehensible (the two adult actors were marvelous throughout). No one else, as far as I know, has mentioned this. I saw the final preview Sunday night and perhaps they were just tired after what I imagine was an exhausting final week of previews.

bit of a slow start but it packs a punch at the end. Ivan Howe is simply remarkable in this, but both boys feel like actual boys talking like boys, not late teenagers trying hard to sound younger. All four actors are doing incredible work but the last 5 minutes with Howe is just... the kind of moments i wont soon forget.
