Hello Again Movie

Is anyone planning to see this film? While it features appealing stars like Audra McDonald and Cheyenne Jackson, the few reviews I've found have been mixed.

Anyone know if they have a soundtrack? I can't find it anywhere, only 1 song on youtube

I really enjoyed the film. I will say it started slow with little to no chemistry. However that changed with Rumer Willis. I found her absolutely compelling. She sold me. I'd see her in any musical. Incredible acting and beautiful singing. Besides her, I thought Audra was the standout. Audra could play this part in her sleep and still nail it. I think the Beyond The Moon dance tune is pretty dreadful. However, it does seem they are acknowledging that in the movie. It's campy and like something you'd see in a gay video bar, so it did work for me.

I didnt see a huge reason to swap genders of the senator and the whore. The opening scene was fairly unconvincing after seeing Donna Murphy and Nikka Lanzarone nail it.

I loved the cinematography and the design. They probably had a tiny budget and it looked great. Thought Cheyenne and Tyler were great. Martha was very good and grounded her scenes with terrific acting. Overall was very pleased. A labor of love and it showed.

Just returned from seeing it. Only three screenings currently scheduled here in the greater Palm Springs area and about 12 of us were in attendance at today's matinee.

I found it gorgeously sung throughout and I look forward to a soundtrack recording. I agree with the praise for MacDonald, Plimpton and Rumor Willis above. Cheyenne Jackson looks in great shape and is in good voice.

Unfortunately, the first 2/3s of the film are shot almost totally in the dark. So much so I'm not surprised they open with a film clip of GLEE's Jenna Ushkawitz (also very good in the film itself) explaining the conceit, because, frankly, I couldn't tell one man from another until T.R. Knight arrived on board.

Ushkawitz closes her opening remarks by claiming HELLO AGAIN is "the fifth off-Broadway musical made into a movie". I assume they aren't talking about shows like HAIR and GREASE that opened off-Broadway and then moved uptown, because then the number of movie adaptations would be in the dozens, if not hundreds.

So what are the five? I can think of the following:

HELLO AGAIN (obviously)
HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH
LITTLE SHOP OF HORROR
THE FANTASTICKS
GODSPELL

Some of the above were later revived on Broadway, but those were revivals, not transfers. Would someone like to verify or refute my thinking here?

"Last 5 Years" probably was one of the 5 she was referencing.

I can't wait to see the film, and am eagerly awaiting the Soundtrack Recording.

L5Y and LUCKY STIFF are excellent examples, but that's no reason to cut HEDWIG or GODSPELL, both of which were made into films years before their Broadway revivals.

So I think our best conclusion is that somebody miscounted. (Not blaming Ushkawitz. She was obviously reading from a script.) Because we now have SEVEN off-Broadway musicals that were made into films before they appeared on Broadway.
