Has anyone seen the understudies for this show? I've seen Nathan Madden, who was filling in for Gavin and did a good job. The reason I'm wondering is because aside from Christian Dante White and Micheal Hartung, I haven't really heard of anybody's experiences with the understudies. In particular, Leslie Donna Flesner (Irene), Amanda Lamotte (Ermengarde, Minnie), and Hayley Podschun (Also Ermengarde and Minnie).

I know Bette missed one performance and Linda Mugleston went on, which was quite noteworthy and may not happen again.

Analisa Leaming has gone on as Irene while Kate was on vacation.

Christian Dante White has gone on for Gavin Creel when Creel was absent.

I saw Michael McCormick on for David Hyde Pierce back in May. He was very good, but when I went back to see DHP in July I preferred his performance a bit more.

Haley Podschun is on as Minnie all week! If anyone happens to go, let us know how she was.

I've seen Michael M., Christian W., Nathan M., Haley P., and  Analisa L., and they were all fine. But none of them have the specialness of the regular scheduled performers I found. But if you have no one to compare them to, it's not really an issue which is true in most understudy situations.

I saw Hayley Podschun as Minnie on Tuesday, and thought she was delightful. She seemed thrilled when Donna Murphy pulled her forward at the curtain call to take a bow by herself.

I saw the Barnaby understudy but he was so unmemorable I don't remember his name.

Yes, he was on Sunday and was fantastic. Still, I wish I had seen Gavin Creel. Hopefully next weekend.

Saw Haley again tonight as Minnie. Like I have mentioned the understudies are all fine but I don't find they come with anything special. They don't have to imitate the regular scheduled performer but just have something else to bring to the role. Minnie isn't the greatest part but Beanie Feldstein brings, I think, so a great new take on this role. My favorite Minnie is the one I saw in 1970-she closed the show-the incomparable Georgia Engel.
