From Jason Robert Brown's February newsletter:
Hopefully, I'll have more cool news soon about "13," "Honeymoon In Vegas," a whole bunch of new concerts in L.A. and S.F., and ... a very high-profile production of "Parade." But I can't tell you about any of that yet! Sorry, I'm such a tease.
I'm definitely intrigued. Thoughts as to who, what, where, and when?

"a very high-profile production of "Parade."
I wonder if he's in talks to do it at the Roundabout? It's been almost ten years since Lincoln Center did it. Roundabout could give it a starry cast. I'm thinking they would try to lure Harry Connick Jr in as Leo.

Harry Connick Jr as Leo Frank? Shoot me now!
High Profile doesn't always mean Broadway. Has the show yet to have a high profile London production?

Posted: 1/30/07 at 4:57pmMaybe a filmed version? that would probably suck though.

Posted: 1/30/07 at 4:58pmI believe he means London. Parade has not yet been done there, and I've heard from a family source that the West End is very much intrigued to mount a production of it.

I really hope they don't try to get Harry Connick Jr. as Leo Frank. Agh, I can imagine it now and I'm not liking it.
Edit: London is a very good guess. It premiered in August 2005 at the Edinburgh Fringe and was apparently very well received. Granted, Edinburgh isn't London, but still, maybe producers over there saw it and are interested.

Posted: 1/30/07 at 5:00pmIf he's talkin' Broadway, I'd venture a guess that "high profile" means a production by a non-profit. No producer in their right mind (for art's sake or not) would produce a show like Parade commercially.

Posted: 1/30/07 at 5:11pmI'd love to see the National Theatre in London produce this, and I think they'd definitely be open to producing more thoughtful modern musicals after all the awards that Caroline, or Change is raking in for them.

I love me some Parade. Although Harry Connick as Leo? Not sure what what would be like...

From the Jason Robert Brown March Newsletter: "...and if you check out my website, you'll find out all the news about the forthcoming production of Parade this fall in London!"
Can't wait to hear more about it.

Posted: 2/28/07 at 10:19amDo ya'll not read news? It's premiering in London at the Donmar next season. This was announced last week I believe and discussed on this board. I'm sure that's the high profile production he's talking about. He would definitely also have to be working on it because that show in the Donmar will probably need a new orchestration.
