I'm looking for the name of the manager of the Hirshfeld theatre. I've found a few names through google but I'm not really sure which one is the one I'm looking for. So, I thought someone here might know.
I may have previousy mentioned that I have a younger sister who is handicapped. She has low muscle tone and is developmentally disabled.
On Saturday I took my sister to see the matinee of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. She's a big fan of both Jonas and Urie so I wanted her to see them before the show closed. After the show we went to the stage door because she wanted to meet Urie and Blanchard. After awhile people started to come out and she was so excited to meet Michael and get her picture taken with him.
Not long after Michael came out she kept trying to put her head down and sit down on the pavement claiming she was "tired". I kept pulling her up saying she couldn't sit down there and we had to go to dinner. I didn't take her overly seriously because this was something she'd done before when she wasn't getting her way or was disappointed about something. I just figured it was because Tammy wasn't coming out. She's a great kid but can be a bit of a "Sarah Hearburn" from time to time.
When I tried to lead her away from the theatre she had an absolute death grip on the barricade and I thought she didn't want to go because she hadn't seen Tammy yet. But, when I was able to get her hands off the barricade she fell. At first I thought she had simply lost her balance but she was unresposive. She had fainted.
She came to after a moment or so and while I was trying to help her up two people were quickly at our sides. I thought they were just passers-by or had been waiting at the stage door as well. The gentleman got on his phone and called 911 while the young woman knelt down with us and started asking us our names and chatting. By this point I had already gotten Lauren's apple juice out of her purse but they got a chair, water, and an ice pack from inside the theatre. The gentleman asked if she would be more comfortable inside the theatre and I said "Well, if they'll let us". And he said "They'll let you - I'm the manager".
By the time the abmulance came (about half an hour later) Lauren was fine but the paramedics wanted to check her out anyway. And they were some of the rudest people I had ever encountered but that's another story.
But this brings us to the reason I started this thread. I found out the woman was Carrie Brinker the Associate Theater Manager but I can't find the name of the gentleman. He was 30-40ish, Asian-looking, with black glasses, he was between 5'8"-6'0" I would guess. I was hoping someone here might know his name so when I email Jujamcyn I can say exactly who helped us.

I Googled the telephone number of the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and got the number for Jujamcyn Theatres. The lady I spoke to said the House Manager's name was probably Albert Kim, so that fits your description of his being Asian. Good luck with your thank you note. The number is 212-840-8181.
Nice to hear a positive experience -- especially in a time when it's needed most.

Yes, as Gypsy9 stated in the reply post, Albert T. Kim is the Theatre Manager of the Hirschfeld Theatre, and was the manager on duty who assisted your younger sister this past Saturday matinee when she fainted outside the theatre.
Albert had written about the incident in his performance report that afternoon, and while you did not comment on the status of your sister in your post, we are all hoping that she is feeling better. Please send her our best! Its always upsetting to hear about incidents like this, but Im glad to hear that Albert and the Hirschfeld team were able to take such good care of your sister when she became ill.
If you wish to contact him, or anyone else at Jujamcyn, please feel free to e-mail us at jujamcyn@jujamcyn.com.
Thanks for the post.
Warmly, Hal Goldberg Vice President, Theatre Operations
I opened this thread expecting to read something bad about what the Hirshfeld Management did, very nice to see that wasn't the case. Kudos to Jujamcyn and I hope your sister is doing better.
Classy, Jujamcyn -- Please let the people at the Hirschfeld know, there are lots of folks that are thrilled to know when someone does a great job. We all too often only hear the complaints, but kudos to your staff.

Lauren is doing much better. After the incident it was as if nothing had ever happened. Before we left she had the presence of mind to ask to meet Nick. lol. I took her to dinner at Ellen's (which is her favorite NYC restaurant) where she had a lovely dinner and afterward we stopped at Disney Store before heading back to Penn Station.
Also, it came to my attention that Lauren had fainted from the heat before later that day. This was not something I was aware of and my mother had not shared it with me. It's not a common occurrence but it HAD happened.
Thanks to everyone for their help. I don't even know why I didn't occur to me to call. I guess it has just "been a long day" at work. :)
The Hirshfeld staff were great and we always enjoy our trips to that theatre. I wish I could say the same for the paramedics. As I mentioned previously - that wasn't a pleasant experience.

For a major city, in the heart of the tourist area? I'm not suprised. In fact, any time I see an emergency vehicle trying to get ANYWHERE in the city, I find myself saying a little prayer.

Jujamcyn are doing something really amazing... they are actually trying to create a great customer experience that starts as soon as you talk to the box office. They are giving their staff training in customer service and they have the best FOH and ushering staff of any theatres in New York. Bravo.
I had commented that we were lucky something wasn't really wrong. By the time the ambulance got there she was feeling better and the visit mostly consisted of them taking her blood pressure, chastising me for not feeding her, and insulting my handwriting.

I just got around to uploading this so I thought I'd share it here as well :)
