It’s a classic starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly and the French Riviera. Do yourself a favor and see it. I am not so sure this story needs to be musicalized but it seems nowadays they’re turning everything into a musical.

Next thing you know Biden's last State of the Union address will be done as a musical.

At least it's not the most familiar IP in the world becoming a musical or another "this movie has music it's perfect as a musical" musical.
I'm open minded here.

I absolutely love the movie and will hope for the best, but I can't see it. It is already a great 'movie movie' with lush scenery, rooftop antics. Maybe they should work on a revisal of Drat! The Cat!, a musical which Walter Kerr and I loved 60 years ago, but only ran for 8 performances. PRobably the only show I have seen where I don't have a playbill, because previews only gave a folded sheet covering the main facts.

Speaking of gorgeous European locations and fabulous stars, anyone up for a musicalization of TWO FOR THE ROAD? I’m envisioning a Pasquale/Soo vehicle.

Dissenting opinion, I guess... the movie is fine. With a different cast, I don't think it would be memorable. It's a decent choice to turn into a musical. The mystery about the thief is pretty easy to guess early on. That could be made more complicated or it could take even more of a backseat to the romance. There's room to flesh out the characters, especially Grace Kelly's spoiled heiress. Lovely costumes could either accompany a lavish production or make up for a basic set. And you could dial up the sexual tension and humor a bit. It's not an untouchable movie, basically.
