Some of these Broadway producers are so incredibly wealthy and fall in love with their shows despite the reviews and grosses. They are willing to pump more money into the shows to keep them running at a loss. Also, any losses are a tax deduction. Producer Chase Mishkin kept pumping money into "Urban Cowboy" for weeks to keep it open because she fell in love with the show and the cast.

Not wishing it ill or anything, but after last week's grosses and seats sold, I'm surprised they are throwing more money into it. I mean, if you have over 1000 seats to sell each night, and you are only averaging about 350 per performance, I think it's time to pull the plug. Granted, that was only last week. Should be interesting to see what happens.

It baffles me, source material aside, that with kind reviews and a recognizeable cast, The Performers had no advance, and posted closing notices less than a week after opening, but this show remains a draw- I agree producers, cut your loses, no ill will to the actors, never want to see anyone jobless!

Will they even attempt to put this show on the road with touring company. Not everything that tours is a Broadway hit so just wondering if Kathy Lee would think this show might do better outside NY.

These producers just may keep pumping money into this just to keep it open for the holidays. and why this show isn't always at TKTS or there's no solid discounts available right now(since it opened) is beyond me. (NOTE: there's a discount available for $86 orch/$61 & $52 mezz, but's it's only valid through Dec. 16 on select dates) - WTF!?!?!

It's showing up on my TKTS app as on the board for this evening and shows as being up "frequently."

Also, it's always on TDF.

during last week(Thanksgiving week), it was reported that Scandalous wasn't on TKTS for its Wednesday evening, Friday matinee or Saturday evening shows.

Doesn't the theater have a right to pull the plug if the box office is really bad?

They can exercise the stop clause, but unless there is another show ready and waiting to go in there isn't much point in doing so.
