I'm curious to know what the Patrick Stewart revival was like, with the setting change and everything.

Judging by this is looks pretty terrifying, though I don't know how much was changed from the play to the movie.

I wouldn't say scary, but it was a very intense production.
I loved it. Brilliantly acted, and the change in setting worked fabulously.

Scary? Not at all. It was eerie and creepy, sure, but didn't get any scarier than "mildly unsettling". I've had scarier bowel movements, if you'll pardon the lowering of the tone. (And I loved this production rather a lot and also am permanently on the lookout for properly scary theatre.

Posted: 2/13/11 at 8:26pmThe only "scary" element of the production is how horrifying the characters portrayed, particularly from this cast, truly are. I am studying the piece currently, and would rate Goold's Macbeth as the finest of the adaptions.

Posted: 2/13/11 at 9:54pmI wish I had gotten to see this production. I think I'll order it on Amazon, if only to see Kate Fleetwood's sleepwalking scene.

To my mind, "Rupert Goold's highly stylized concept production" was fairly brilliant from beginning to end (and I believe most critics agreed). I agree, though, that Fleetwood was excellent.
I actually found it very unsettling, and it was the first time I've ever found the witches frightening.
