How about Disney's Snow White on Broadway?

Der Glockner von Notre Dame is darker than the movie. If that's what Disney wants to adapt, I hope they don't cut too much. For instance, in Der Glockner, Esmeralda dies, Quasimodo throws Frollo off the roof (as opposed to both of them falling and Quasi being caught by Phoebus), Clopin is a crippled guy (who doesn't have any puppets) who looks a bit like Jack Sparrow, etc. I really like the darker tone the production has, as opposed to the movie. (The story is actually pretty much the same, but small changes make it so much better.)

"I feel like the whole Dwarves aspect would be difficult to do well, without being considered offensive or discriminatory."
Wizard of Oz was done on stage. Is the term "munchkins" any less inflammatory than "dwarves"?

Schmerg I wonder if he along with the other actors and creative members were fluent in german or if they simply learned the score and libretto in that dialect

If Snow White did come to Broadway I would love to see a new song for The Queen that is a little similar to this song in terms of the style and the envy she feels This song is from another version of Snow White back in 1987. I think it is such a good song
Song starts at the 1:31 mark
Sorry if the link doesn't work just go to youtube and type More Beautiful than Me.

Posted: 10/12/09 at 10:48amThe only change I disliked in the German version was the choice to portray Quasimodo as mentally crippled as well as physically. Withn his own mind the gargoyles speak eloquently for what he cannot, but other than in song, Quasimodo is basically assumed to be somewhat mentally retarded.
