How is MATILDA selling?

I just bought a ticket for a weekday evening in early June, and orchestra seats were scarce - only scattered singles for every performance I looked at. Mezz availability was slightly better, but not much.
I suspect tickets will go even faster once they start performances next week and buzz gets out, so order while you can!

Posted: 2/28/13 at 4:00pmI guess they're selling pretty well. I read online that someone tried to buy tickets for June and they already only have some scattered seats left in the orchestra for all the dates around that time.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 4:52pmit's selling extremely well. and i figure once they start performances, and reviews come out they will start selling even better. its very hard to get tickets on telecharge, especially with the awful new website. I'm afraid it will become the next Mormon, in terms of ticket availability.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 5:01pmThe new Telecharge is indeed terrible. I hadn't used it yet and it took almost an hour to browse the various performances I was looking at and buy tickets.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 5:22pmI have heard there have been a lot of group sales. Looks like I snagged the next to last balcony seat for the Tues after next.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 5:36pmMatilda had a nice 2,500 point bonus on Audience Rewards. I snagged a third row side orchestra seat for March 6 and can't wait to use the points to save on another show.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 6:52pmOver here in the UK, it is the same as Mormon (well not quite) is over in NYC. Tickets are still v. difficult to get, and it has been open over a year. Luckily we don't do Mormons "dynamic pricing" over here, so tickets are still reasonable.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 7:43pmABB2357, I'm glad you started this thread. You are correct in what you wrote. I was going to wait and buy my ticket for June during my May visit. I wanted to save the telecharge fees. I went online for the matinee of June 5, which is the performance I wanted and it was sold out for the price range I wanted. So I looked at the evening and got a ticket. Had I waited I may have been SOL. So thanks.

Posted: 2/28/13 at 7:51pmHI! I hope this is an okay place to ask this question...does the Shubert Box Office charge service fees? Before they announce a rush/lotto policy, i want to buy a random balcony seat for next week. But the $37 looses its appeal when Telecharge adds almost $10 in fees. Also, whats the deal with the box seats?

AT the box office, there is only the restoration fee (I believe) so if its conveneient, it makes sense to buy at the box office.
the deal? In what way?
#13How is MATILDA selling?
Posted: 2/28/13 at 8:15pmThanks! And by deal I meant, that the seats are not for sale on telecharge, but present. Is it possible that just every performance of them i looked for is sold out, or are they not selling them? Thanks!

Posted: 3/3/13 at 7:04pmIn the UK Matilda has been selling very well and I saw it myself but don't believe it's the best show out there. The music is very good but the story, at times, is quite weak. Matilda is very popular because it is suitable for young children but I feel the buzz is slowly dying down about it but I hope it does well on Broadway because there's some very funny and touching moments.

To access the old Telecharge site use this website. The new one is indeed horrible. Why did they ever change it?

Ugh. I am going to threadjack here because I need to rant. I now prefer Ticketmaster over Telecharge. I feel like Ticketmaster listened to some customer suggestions. For example: interactive seat selection. I've been able to select specific seats from an interactive seating charts (even for concerts with venues with thousands of seats). Telecharge, on the other hand, tried to fix something that was not really broken to begin with.
I can understand they were probably trying to reduce the number of screens you had to pass through before you could purchase tickets, but I preferred that A LOT over the interface they have now. The site is way too cluttered.

Posted: 3/4/13 at 8:20amTotally agree with you, millie_dillmount, the "new" Telecharge is horrible. I used to avoid Ticketmaster whenever possible, but now it is much easier to use than Telecharge. What were they thinking? I'm sure some outside firm made a fortune coming up with this new "design," which is impossible to manipulate. Come on, Telecharge, admit you screwed up and straighten this out!
