How long will Memphis run?

It's already run wayyyyy toooo long!!! What an irritating mediocre at best show. Should have never won best musical and run this long at all.

It hasn't run way too long if it's still making enough money to stay open. And it will run as long as people keep buying tickets. I hope it has more life in it yet. It's a solid conventional book musical with a good score. Not my pick for Best Musical that season, but I can understand why people like it. I haven't seen the DVD (which seems to be the root of most people's gripes with the show), but on tour it was very good and audiences seemed to love it.

I'm honestly surprised it's maintained an audience and not gotten lost in the shuffle. I feel like it's seldom talked about.

I agree that it's time has come. I was not impressed when I saw it and wonder why it won best musical. American Idiot was by far a more superior musical and should have taken the award AND run longer.

And this is why there is no crystal ball for producers of musical theater- this show came out in a bad year for new musicals and has managed to run and run past other shows that many people considered to be better shows- I saw the show a few months after it opened and thought it was good, not great and truly did not think it would not still be running going into the summer months of 2012. I think maybe Adam Pascall was a smart casting choice after all- seems to have brought some new life into the show I guess.

Wasn't it rumored last year that the lead producer (Scott Landis)of 'Memphis' was willing to axe this show, as suitable houses weren't available for his other musical waiting in the wings, 'Nice Work If You Can Get It'. In the end 'Funny Girl' got pulled, paving the way for 'Nice Work' to go into the Imperial and 'Memphis' got a last minute reprieve?

Reminds me of Smokey Joe's Cafe. NOBODY expected that show to run as long as it did. These things happen.

Adam Pascal and Montego Glover have signed contract until October. After that, guess it depends on the possible replacements.

I love Adam Pascal and think he was a good choice for a poor musical. The Shubert Theater needs to get vacant so "Heaven on Earth" can start its run :)

I don't think the lack of empty theaters on Broadway will be a problem for long.
