Ok, its pretty obvious that TPOTO will most likely become the longest running show in Bway history as it still manages to pack houses after nearly 18 years. So how much longer will it really last? I say 3 to 5 more years.

I second three to five years.
Well, Phantom is a pretty popular show....However, I agree with what you said. I'm pretty sure they're going to keep it on until it beats Cats at least. I'm pretty sure Andrew Lloyd Webber and his fans will feel satisfied at having the top two longest running shows on Broadway history be Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
Phantom is an unpredictable show. It's great, but it really doesn't work without a great cast.
forever.
or until everyone in the entire world has seen it twice: the thing is "Remember your first time" implying that there will be a second time.
as long as it outruns Cats.
And as long as we're in the topic of Cats, I was just wondering. How long will it be until they decide to do a revival of that show?
I heard that they were in talks to get alot of the OLC to reprise their roles for a London revival.
I know nothing about a Broadway revival, but don't see one in at least five or ten more years.
[sorry for the threadjacking]

yeah POTO is gonna run until it at least outruns cats. i hope it does. i never liked cats and i think its weird having that be the longest running show lol. ALW must be very pleased with himself.

Any revival of Cats before I'm dead is too soon.
lvpblues -I'm totally with you on that.
Phantom is planning on holding out till they beat Cats, and trust me when I say that when they announce a closing date it won't be a month in advance, they'll announce it like a year before it happens. It won't be one of those "OMG LITTLE WOMEN'S CLOSING IN A WEEK" type of things, but something that they'll pretend to close and pretend to close until they've milked everything out of it they can :0)
Yeah, they will make the closing of Phantom into a big event.
It will definitely be as big or bigger than Les Miserables,I'll bet.
How long will Phantom run?
TOO LONG (just like the duration of the overblown show itself...).
Like sands through the hour glass...so are the chandeliers of our lives.
It'll probably outlive the cockroaches and Cher.
I hope only until it outruns Cats. It is to the point where it need to end soon, at least in my opinion. All this said, I still love Phantom.
I agree with Scooter - too long, but then it already has run too long.
Till the day i die....I CANNOT IMAGINE LIVING LIFE KNOWING PHANTOM IS OFF BWAY!
If it does happen, i'll just have to go with it.
