I meant to post this on New Year's Day, but completely forgot. I was interested in how many shows you saw at the theatre last year. For me, it was 64.. which works out at 1.2 a week, which is about right. Sometimes I see 1, sometimes none, and on one occasion 6.
January is a slow month but tomorrow night I'm seeing the tour of The Play What I Wrote, which will be the first show of this year. My New Year's resolution is to spend less for my theatre tickets, so I'm only seeing free shows at the moment, though I broke it already by booking for The Pillowman w/Jim Broadbent.
So go on - how often do you go and how many did you see last year?
I saw 5 Broadway shows last year, and probably 15+ community theatre/high school shows.
too often. I see Broadway shows about once a month, but lately they've been closer and closer together. It depends on when I can get down to the city. Last year I think I saw 10, not including repeats. It's an expensive hobby.
I only go to NYC once a year and see about 3 shows, but I go to the theatre at least once a month.

I go to the theater or some sort of musical event about twice a month. By musical event I mean opera, ballet or symphony.
Broadway and Off Broadway and Off Off Broadway+
145 all together last year.

Corine, that number is staggering! Now, of the 145 productions that you saw last year, how many did you understand?

DP -- LMAO
Umm.. I saw... a lot last year. Hahha
As few as once a week (not every week though -- there were some weeks I didn't see any shows) and as many (one week) as 6 shows in one week. From about July to October though, I didn't see anything, as I couldn't afford to. I count 24 shows.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
I saw 14 Broadway shows last year.
Last year I went to 7 Broadway shows.
I'm planning a trip into the city this week to see another. And I have plans to see some Off-Broadway in the next few months. And in June, will be back in the city for a few more shows......
It is very addictive.
I believe I saw around 40 shows last year...give or take a couple.
Sometimes I'll go to the theatre 2 or 3 times a month; and then sometimes I'll wait a month and a half before I see something. It depends on how busy I am at that time of year, and how much money I have at the time.
I saw around 15 last year.
I try to get to NYC once a year to see as many shows as I can - last year we only saw 8 shows on Broadway - but I've seen MANY others in LA. However this year it looks like my trips to NYC will be a lot more and my LA trips will be few and far between. I envy those of you who don't have to fly long distances to see great theatre.
Not as much as we used to. It is simply too expensive. We pick & choose between full price, TDF & other offerings. A few years ago, we had 2 sets of tickets to see future shows. We now have one pair of tickets. There is also a paucity of shows worth seeing.
On average, 13 professional shows a year, but not Broadway.
I think I only saw around 8 last year. As a 15 year old, it's rough to afford such high prices- I didn't know about student rush before around 5 or 6 months ago, so I'm gonna try to take full advantage of those opportunities this year.
I totally agree with BillyLawlor. I can only speak for myself, but in my experience, teenager=poor!
I don't go very often... I think I saw about 3 or 4 shows last year. I just don't have the money for all the shows I want to see!! =-(
I saw about 18-20 Broadway shows last year.. probably about 15-20 community/high school shows as well.
I saw 21 shows in NYC this past year and between 4 and 10 shows here in FL (can't remember)
Unfortunately, I saw no Broadway shows last year. My parents seem to refuse to take me to New York!! But, I did see 9 professional shows. One touring and the rest at the Stratford Festival where I studied last summer. This summer, we are supposed to head to New York to see Paige Davis in Chicago and hopefully while I am there I can convince my parents to check out LSOH. I love Kerry Butler and Hunter Foster. sigh....
Luckily I saved last year's calendar and counted 23 shows.
Community theatre- practically every other weekend.
NY- its hard to say.
I usually average around 3-4 shows a year, but the numbers have been icreasing do to my passion getting bigger and bigger!
I'm in NYC about once a week seeing shows it's really said I really need to stop spending all my money on it. but I love it so much!
