Might want to brush up on your grammar first. Stinking common core.

<4. Most Broadway theatres wouldn't let you in to see your own show.

Sorry, autocorrect has a mind of its own.

So proofread. Check your work. It's a little hypocritical to blame autocorrect when you're blaming someone's improper use of grammar on "stinking common core". If you're going to snark on someone else's faults, own up to your own. Also, why are you capitalizing (your now correctly spelled) "Grammar"?
To the OP, to use an old phrase, "If you have to ask", you're probably too young, or simply not driven enough. Why are you asking? You don't need anyone's permission. If you want to do it, just do it. There is no age requirement.

Am at work, typing fast, should have proof read. You are correct. Phone sucks, for some reason my phone likes Mr Grammer.

Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was eight. I'd say time's a-wastin'.

When it comes to producing a show, it's not about age; it's about money. It's investing in a show that will do well and not get you in debt. It's a risky thing to do. Not just in paying for the venue, actors, techies, and everyone else. Producers also invest money in advertising and so much more.
As for writing a show, there is no age limit. But odds are, the older you are (specifically more experience and knowledge of how plays and such work) the better you are going to be. Anyone with the ability to write in complete sentences can write a play regardless of their age, but that does not mean it will be good. That depends on the how long you are exposed to good writing/theatre, how long you have been writing, etc.
If you want to write a musical, then you would have to at least know how to play piano. It all depends on how much you are doing yourself.
Point is, it's not age. It's experience. The more you have it, the better you will be in whatever you take on.

How about he just writes a musical and doesn't try to get it produced on Broadway in the first five minutes of his new "career?"
Try a community theatre or college or regional theatre. Many of them will accept submissions.

It's not *technically* impossible to be young and be a producer, but it's very unlikely to be younger than 30
In 2015, that's just not true or accurate... at all. By any stretch of the imagination. Sorry.

I agree. Everyone is so obsessed with Broadway, but there are many other places you can achieve in. I have a friend, Isaac Hopkins who entered his original play in a contest and he won. He now has two plays published with Samuel French. He did this like right after graduating high school. Isaac also wrote the book to a musical based on the life of Jimmy Carter that was produced in Boston. He's only 23.
It's completely possible to write a play and go places with it. You have to stick to it!

It's completely possible to write a play and go places with it.
It's also completely possible to become a producer under the age of 30. Did you know that?

To produce? You need money. Someone under the legal age of majority wouldn't be able to actually do anything necessarily contractual without a legal representative, and I doubt investors can be convinced unless they're rich relatives; being a kid actor is one thing, but running a show is entirely something else. Unless said young person already has gobs of money and wants to write/act/direct/produce everything himself/herself, I suppose. Ignoring the production part and just writing seems a more attainable goal, practically speaking.

It's a "big kid" job, like you said. I can't imagine someone high school age to be producing a show with the financial and mental capability.

Noel Coward wrote "Hay Fever" when he was in his early 20s, a play which is still produced and enjoyed today. And he wrote several others before that. Read any of the good biographies about him for inspiration.

There's no too young. Just do it. You don't start writing better work because you're older, you start writing better work when you've written a bunch of crappy work and learned to do better. Get your friends together and put on a show with them. Put up a play at school. Don't worry about not being old enough -- just have fun know and start learning.

If you don't pop out of the womb with at least two fully orchestrated musicals and a dramatic one-act then you're already behind schedule.

I know a group of high school students (who are attached to a fine arts high school) who have been very successful producing and directing musicals at the community level in the past year with three different shows. Also in our area is group high school and college students who come together every summer to produce a musical. Most larger colleges have student-run productions every semester. While it's important to understand the business, licensing and legal end of producing shows, it's definitely something that can be approached by mature and focused young adults. Go for it!
