once Phantom closes and some opera company decides to do a full symphonic concert version a recording of that would be nice...

And the OLC is missing a lot of music, Sant. As, Thenardier (why!), just said it states that fact clearly in the booklet...

That would be cool if they sold a mini disc or something. I would just like a Cd of Hugh Panaro singing as The Phantom.

They chould have an official Anniversary Cast Recording - like 7,000th Performance Anniversary (even though that was last year)

Of course, it's not going to happen but it would be nice.

As long as Sandra Joseph is NOT included as Christine Daaé. Everyone else can stay... especially Hugh Panaro as The Phantom and Anne Runolfsson as Carlotta Guidicelli.

Not really. She was definitely not comfortable with the high notes. During the vocalizing at the end of the title song, she was definitely trying too hard to reach those notes and she was singing them too softly. I was sitting front row, directly in front of her and I still couldn't hear her (except through the speakers). I wasn't that impressed.

I would say that perhaps she was having an off-day, but she had just come back from a vacation.

And I love the OLC Carlotta, but Anne Runolfsson owned the stage. That woman did not need a microphone. She was phenomenal.

And the Firmin on the OLC, for whatever reason, is awesome - I love listenign to his songs...

Sandra seemed to do really well when I saw her...she was subbing in for - what's her name - the alternate

Usually that is the case, but I've also seen Lisa Vroman cover her alternates, so maybe it depends on the actor.

The reason for that is because that part of the song is prerecorded. That's why you didn't hear anything coming out of her.

Speaking of the whole 'alternate' thing, I read that Andrew Lloyd Webber made it a requirement that there be an alternate for the part of Christine. Why is that? It doesn't seem that difficult or strenuous. I would better understand having an alternate for Carlotta, as she is singing coloratura throughout the show, but Christine just sings regular soprano... and "briefly" hits a high E (as the casting call said).

I know that a part of the song is prerecorded. But I don't believe that the vocalizing at the very end of the song is what is prerecorded.

You could even see the veins in her neck popping and stuff. She was clearly singing it live; she was just very quiet. And if, in fact, that is the part that is prerecorded, then they should find some actresses who can actually sing the damn part. Updated On: 3/24/05 at 06:21 PM

Christine barely has any time offstage unless she's changing costumes. Big difference compared to Carlotta.

Joshua, the phantom doesn't have an alternate because he's only on stage for about 45 minutes and some of that is even pre recorded.

I mean, I know why they do it and it makes it easier, but still...
