For the people that have auditioned with this song, or would, what minute and 30sec did or would you use? I'm asking NOT because I plan on using this song, but because I would love to sing Forbidden Broadway's "I Dreamed a Show" for an audtion for a revue (just need to let the director know I want a fun and funny song) and the song portion can only be about 1 min 30 sec. Thanks!

As a guy, I've never done this song for an audition, but I've often seen people begin at the, "I had a dream my life would be so different from the hell I'm living." I think that cuts it pretty well.
hmm thanks but that part isn't really in the parody, I don't think. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong -and lemme know where it is in the pardoy). I appreciate your time and effort though!
It would be great to get the "But the tigers come at night..." verse because it would show off your vocal range. But I'm not really familiar with FB, so I don't know if that helps or not.
yea im definitely keeping in that, it's shows off my comfort range.
How low is that "night"? I can barely hit it sometimes, and have to harmonize. But I love that song, and have been singing it since I was 9.
Edit: Not "night" but the "apart" after "As they tear your hope apart."
Yey! Something I can help with!
In the original version (the one in the key of F natural), the lowest note is Ab below the stave. In the Tenth Anniversary Concert version the "part" falls on a bottom F#.
I auditioned with this song for an amdram company, and I sang it from the first verse to the end of the bridge. (Mainly because I can do the "As they turn your dreams to shaaaaaaaame" all in one breath, which kinda impresses people) It didn't really matter that I used the two easier verses cos it was just kind of a formality.
Perhaps start with the bridge and go through to the end?
The cruelty....is there any way to train your way to that note?
I was the same way, InTheMoney.
I started singing it because it was between that and "Maybe" from Annie, which I didn't like. It was great when I was younger, except when I sang it a capella at a Jewish nursing home. Apparently I belted too loud (I can't belt quietly) and they all left while I sang. I was extremely embarassed! However, I still consider it my default "quick, Shira, sing something" song. Not that that has happened very often.
