Tina as "Opera Lady" for Broadway Cares.

HOT!
I saw Tina on tuesday as Julia and I adored her! She was fabulous...I just found her to be a very good fit for the part. And I met her at the stage door. She couldnt have been any nicer! She has got to be one of the nicest people I've met.
The role is so her and I couldn't be happier that she's getting such great recognition.

I admit, I went into Wedding Singer on Tuesday ( 8/8 ) dreading what was to come without Laura Benanti. The moment Tina Maddigan spoke though, I was amazed. She is so incredibly charming in the role! Her vocals have grown so much since May. Her voice is a lot smoother, fluid, and accustomed to Julia. She is too cute and her chemistry with Robbie and Glen (u/s Matthew Stocke who was okay, but too old for the role) is so apparent. You could defintely see her lighten up with Stephen, but falter and become submissive with Matthew.
She tried a new twist with "Someday" on the second chorus that we called the Tina Turner riffing! She took a hairbrush or microphone and got down on her knees and riffed it out like a black woman. It was hilarious. She struggles with "If I Told You", but makes up in volumes everywhere else.
I met Tina backstage later on and praised her profusely. She was too kind and mentioned the Tina Turner riffing was new this week.
No, she did the same thing during "someday" awhile ago, it looks cute, but you can tell her voice is not as powerful as benanti's.
Not **** Sherlock. Tina doesn't have an operatic voice like Laura's which is perfectly fine because the role doesn't call for one.
It works a lot better with Tina's voice. Especially on songs like "Pop". I find Laura's vibrato to be in the way of characterization, but Tina's cute, little quirky voice just added onto it. Oh god, I loved how she scrunched her face at the audience when she sang HARI KARI! SOOOOO GOOD!
