Im a 15 male and am anxious to see the show, yes because I saw Eden in Wicked, loved her since I heard the Maury Yeston songbook, and because Ramona Keller is fantastic and was my favorite radio gal in Caroline!
Hard to say. It was almost like they didn't know what to do at that point so they threw an audience participation thing in. And I suspect they will keep it in the show especially since it goes over so well, from what I hear, in Boy From Oz.
A quick note on the "crazed fan thing" (!). I kinda became obsessed with the music from Wicked. By the time I got to NYC to see it I was coming out of my skin with excitement. Saw it, and as much as I enjoyed it, when it was over I thought "Well, I saw it." I then went to the stage door and waited for about 20 minutes to get a glimpse of the performers. After 20 minutes I thought "What am I doing?!" I am 43 yrs old. I have never waited for an hour at a stage door!! Back in the 70's it wasn't like it is now. No barriers by the door. You just stood there and the actors came out and you could actually converse with them. I had a 10 minute conversation with Stephanie Mills one afternoon as she was sitting on the fire escape outside the theatre eating a PB&J sandwhich before a show. Spoke to Richard Gere one day before a performance of "Bent" and even got propositioned by a lead actor in "Deathtrap" after a matinee show! (Back when I was pretty!!!) I was watching these kids at Wicked and thought to myself, "If I was much younger, would that be me?" I opted for a cocktail at Therapy and the wonderful memories of the week I had just had in NYC. :)
I saw this show in its most rare form, the original workshop. If they can bring anything close to the show I saw, and the millions of dollars behind it says they can, then they will be a hit with ages 15 to 50. This show has a great background story to it(find it online and read it). It's the type of story that tourists and NY natives hear and are intrigued to go and see the show. Eden is amazing. If there was ever a show that road on the heels of one performers performance, then this is the show. I would have put money into this show if Eden had been the only one onstage peforming her numbers the entire performance. Don't count this one out, at all.
Well, how can you go to a show and really enjoy it, and then come home to read, OMG EDEN IS GREAT!!, and then suddenly hate it, I just don't get how someone could like a show, but because this person likes it you now have to hate it. I don't know if I am making any sense here, though, I do agree that it can get really annoying, I also think that they have the very same right to an opinion as I and they just have a different way of expressing it. I mean who knows they could read our reviews and think that we are arrogant humans with huge egos, but they don't post it all over the board and they don't let it get to their enjoyment of a show. All I am saying is lets not let our arrogance ruin a $100 theatre experience.
Wow! I am like a non-profit Oprah, I have been preaching about this all day, hehe, the next time I am charging everyone a quater! :)
You know what, I can have my enjoyment of the show diminished by fellow audience members, and I don't just mean teeny boppers. But that's not even the issue here. I'm talking about shows like Brooklyn going from "unknown quantity" to "Idina fan magnet." I didn't really like Wicked, but it's only hearing 10,000 unreasoned arguments about how it's the BEST MOOZIKAL EVR!!!1!! that made me start to hate it. I'm trying to avoid most Brooklyn threads now because I don't want my thoughts on it tainted by that. I want to be open-minded- but when the same people who slobber all over a show I don't like are hyping up this one, I can't help but be a bit worried.
Yeah, sorry about that, I am new and I didn't really understand why, but now being around he for a while, I am starting to get pissed myself, but I am just saying alot of times people can ruin a thread if they decide to start yelling at a person who likes a show and I mean all anyone has to do is press the back button and move on, well at least that is what I do.
