Can...can anyone imagine the day that Sondheim dies...?
I know it's terrible to think of...but he's getting older...
Wow. I don't know what I'd do.
I dread this day.
I don't want to think about that.
I still haven't accepted the fact that Cy Coleman and Fred Ebb died.
AH!

So here's to the girls on the go--
Everybody tries.
Look into their eyes,
And you'll see what they know:
Everybody dies.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately too...all these wonderful talents getting up there...it scares me. But Sondheim lives a pretty healthy lifestyle since his heart attack I hear, so I'm sure he'll be with us for a lot longer.
Yes thank you, everybody does die. But I don't want him to die now, thank you.
Lets just keep good thoughts. The good things about Sondheim si that even if he passes away, we still ahve his great works with us.
WHY would you even say such a thing?
Please, in the future, keep these thoughts to yourself.

There are mouths to be kissed
before mouths to be fed
and there's many a tryst
and there's many a bed,
there's a lot I'll have missed
but I'll have not been dead
when I die
I agree with TheatreDiva90016.
Sondheim looked very healthy when I saw him last year, and he's still pretty active...
buffy - Don't jinx it! In all seriousness, he is a very healthy man. Let's not think such awful thoughts in public. Kenohora poo poo poo ::spits on ground:: Sorry, my mother passes on very Jewish things to me.
This is such a terrible thougt, why would you bring something like this up?
Stephen Sondheim, the man, will pass away sometime in the next 25 years almost certainly. As much as I hate to think about it, it's true. However, Stephen Sondheim - the legend - will live on for the rest of the history of American Musical Theatre. People will point to him as their influence for as long as the medium exists. That my friends is a life beyond death that is envious to people around the world. The man will never die as long as his work is still remembered.
I just hope he can get at least one more new musical to open on broadway before this dark day occurs.
Ooooh, great use of a "Miller's Son" lyric.
Yeah I don't want to think about it.

I think we all need to go to the cellar and pray. We have angered the musical theater gods. QUICK somebody recite the score to Sweeney Todd backwards...
Sum: I think I love you.
inlovewithJH: Why would you say such a thing?! I'm gonna get you banned from the Sweeney revival for saying that!

No! I refuse to think about that!
I know it's not a Sondheim Lyric, but
I DON'T WANT TO KNOW
If music is no longer lovely,
If laughter is no longer lilting,
If lovers are no longer loving,
Then I don't want to know.
If summer is no longer carefree,
If children are no longer singing,
If people are no longer happy,
Then I don't want to know.
Let me hide ev'ry truth from my eyes with the back of my hand,
Let me live in a world full of lies with my head in the sand.
For my memories all are exciting.
My memories all are enchanted,
My memories burn in my mead with a steady glow;
So if, my friends, if love is dead,
I don't want to know.

I'm pretty sure I'll cry when that happens.
Carl Magnum, I think I heard that in a year or so, they're going to re-revise Bounce and try that one again. With an overhauled book and a new Willie (Howard's great, but a different type of Willie puts Bounce in a whole new light by itself), it could be pretty good. And by that time, it might just end up on Broadway even if it's not really good enough.
