I mean, last year, it was pretty cut and dry with Hamilton. There are so many good musicals this year. Dear Evan Hansen, In Transit, Great Comet, Bronx Tale, the Falsettos revival, Hello Dolly's coming back.

Not to mention that the Lead Actress in a Musical race is getting a little more crowded than last year.

Lead Actor, too. Ben Platt, Josh Groban, Christian Borle, Christian Borle again (if Willy Wonka's good), Andy Karl could do Groundhog Day justice.

Also Jon Jon Briones, Corey Cott, and Derek Klena (unless he ends up being eligible as a Featured Actor for Anastasia).

On this visit will see DEH - can't wait to see Broadway changes...

amazing to see DEH and "Comet" literally side by side on 45th street -

Ben Platt and Josh Groben each putting on incredible performances - on two sides of a common wall -

Part of what makes Broadway such an amazingly compact community - yet with global reach!

I wonder if they will champion Josh Groban as featured despite his above-the-title billing. Or if the committee will rule as such. I'm yet to see the show, but reports on the board have been implied it's a featured role at best. It will save him from losing to obvious front-runners in his category (Andy Karl who got raves in London, and Ben Platt who is simply making magic in DEH).

Caption: Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.

"At best"? What is it at worst? It's a lead role, as much as (if not more so) Eliza Hamilton is a lead.

It is definitely the "biggest" male role....so it is leading.   "Save" him???   Not everyone lives and dies by award shows.  Fairly certain that Groban is doing this because he loves it.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
