So I read a post somewhere that said there isnt a stage door at "See what I wanna see"...Is there truth to this?...It had also said that the actors would exit the same way the audience does....true?...I absolutely love Idina and would loooove to meet her....I have tickets for November 25th....and I'm hoping to get an autograph or something along those lines...Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Meet her at your own risk...She does NOT like to talk to fans.

Hey
I saw it on Saturday. She did not come through the lobby, but apparently left. I guess she didn't feel up to it, or just "doesn't like to talk to her fans", either way she did a fine job performing and I was very happy that I got to see the play.

BroadwayBaby, that's not always true.

She don't like to meet the crazy ones. She's been exceptionally nice to me each time I've met her.

Idina: Somehow I got myself to the stage, came out at the end of the show, and I had some kind of closure.
Some guy: You looked great!
Idina: Thanks...I WAS SO HIGH! 8/21/05

That's not true at all.

I assume that if you approached her respectfully and started a conversation as if she was any other normal human being (which she is...too many people make her out to be this house-hold known celebrity goddess creature), I'm sure she'd have no problem responding.

Yeaaah, Broadwayaby, we can...you know try to NOT make up things that make Idina sound like an absolute snob.

As 442 said, if youapproach her like a normal human being, she's extremely sweet. She's a bit quiet and shy, but she's very gracious.

wickedfiyero, if you wait in the lobby afterwards, I'm sure you'll be able to meet her. As far as I know, she only hasn't been coming of for matinees. Sometimes she may not take pictures, but she signs.

Stop bashing this woman.
Put yourself in her shoes.
Would you like to be harrased by a tribe of maniacal screeching teeny girls night after night after night after night.
even she has her breaking point.
maybe if her fan base weren't so over zealous and obssessive she wouldn't have a problem exiting thru the lobby, but i've witnessed the menzelites first hand and it is NOT a pretty sight.

Well said. From what I've witnessed, it's a miracle she hasn't shot anybody yet.

Amen, I got to witness two myself when I was there last weekend.
~13 year-olds (who probably shouldn't have been seeing the show in first place), clutching Wicked playbills and looking ready to jump her if she'd dare come out in that lobby.
Apart from that, so what if she doesn't want to talk to her fans, she does her job. What else do you want from her?

I met her after the show (see the avatar). She came out into the lobby. There were like 80 people waiting to meet her. She had a guy on either side of her pushing her through the crowd. I jumped in front of her and she signed my CD. Then she kept going. I didn't even think to ask for a pic until I saw others doing it. So I jumped in front of her again and asked for a pic. She agreed, but the staff of the theatre had warned me no flash, so it came out kinda blurry. Then she was gone. She didn't even get to half the people there. You cannot be timid if you want an autograph. She moves FAST and barely stops. She will go right by you if you are. But don't like freak out or scare her (she already looked terrified the whole time and she seems really shy). Just kindly ask for an autograph or pic. She obliges. In no way was she mean or scary. She's just shy and seemed a bit overwhlemed, and to be honest a lot of her fans kinda scare me, so I don't blame her for that.

I don't know, aside from being shy, I would think that a few death threats would make me reluctant to "greet" the fans. If Idina doesn't come out, that's her choice.

Miss Elphie just the fact that you had to JUMP IN FRONT OF HER not once but twice solidifies my point. How rude to jump in front of someone!

And you people wonder why she leaves thru the secret exit?

hmmm...I must have phrased that wrong...I didn't exactly jump in FRONT of her...like in front of her face...I just kind of moved my way down the line towards the door where she was heading. I was to the side of her. When I got her autograph, I was in a group of people where she stopped to sign. To ask for the photo I simply tapped her on the shoulder and she turned. I said, "would you mind if I got a picture with you?" and she said "sure" and posed with me. I never forced myself on her or anything. That sounded wrong. I'm just saying you have to be in her general vicinity. Those who hung to the back and waited for her to come to them didn't get anything. She doesn't stay and sign for everyone.

Oh god, no. I'm so freaking shy, I could never do that. I barely whispered, "can I get a pic with you?" Plus, she seemed so petrified of all the people I felt bad even doing that...
I'm definately not a freak out kinda teeny bopper girl (not even close to a teeny anymore, lol).
Actually, to be honest, the night I was there (it was like the 3rd show in previews) everyone there was very respectful of her. No one was freaking out or crying or anything. However it was still early in the run and no one was even sure she'd come out. Maybe it has gotten worse since...

Generally with Idina, it's pretty simple. If you're calm and respectful to her, she'll be nice right back to you.

To say "Meet her at your own risk...She does NOT like to talk to fans" really isn't true. She doesn't dislike her fans, she dislikes when they scream in her face and shove Playbills at her. There's a really big difference.

Well, my advice is to find out where she lives and sit outside of her doorway all night. Then, when she gets up to leave the next morning, take a copy of The Grimmerie, the Rent OBC, and all of her cast recordings and ask her to sign them all with the handy sharpie pen you brought along. She'll love that.

At least others on here understand that it's not that she's rude, but that she doesn't enjoy being overwhelmed. She's extremely nice, as long as you're respectful. I've yet to have one obviously negative experience with Idina.

I didn't get to meet her because I was getting knocked out of the way by the aformentioned fans, but she seems like a very sweet person.

She's just shy and seemed a bit overwhlemed, and to be honest a lot of her fans kinda scare me, so I don't blame her for that.

I wouldn't blame her, either. I'm shy in general, but all of those people yelling at her and shoving things at her has GOT to be scary.

You will want to stand in the main lobby. You will want to be to the left or right on the center doors in the back. These are opposite of the entrance doors. That is where the cast came out after the show when I went earlier this month.

Idina is an extremely nice person. She not only signed my playbill, but posed for two pictures to make sure I got a good shot with no flash.I loved her and See What I Wanna See so much, I will be going back in a month to see it again.

By the way, the result of the second picture with Idina is my Icon you see on the left.Good Luck!!
