Is anyone going to this? Should I sleep there completely or catch a 12:40 bus and sleep on it and get there at 4 am?

Posted: 7/19/18 at 6:58pmWatch this be so overcrowded the venue will turn a bunch of people away. And resellers. Or line holders. This sounds like a recipe for disaster, but show up at like 3 AM. Seems like an okay time.

Posted: 7/20/18 at 12:10amI think I might sleep over. Just ordered a sleeping bag and everything. Also, do you know what time this should be over?

If it purely a signing, with no performances or speeches beforehand, then how soon it will be over is based on where you are in line... as soon as they all sign your LP, it's over for you.

So, I'm in my mid 20s and my mom is freaking out that I'm going to spend the night at Barnes and Noble to the point of forbidding me of going (yes, really.) Even early trains or having a friend sleeping with me won't satisfy her. And some of my friends actually agree with me.
But, is it really going to be that dangerous to spend the night at B&N, even though there will be people there? Would it be ridiculous to do that? Radio City Hall was totally safe and there was a decent amount of people by there time I was there (11:30). I would hate to not go only b/c I miss the wristbands. I love Lin so much and I really want to see him before he does his 500 projects, even if it's just a second. What are your feedbacks on this?

What are you asking for feedback of? Waiting overnight? overnight line waiting at the Union Square B&N happens all the time, with no problem - Google stories about the Hillary Clinton, U2, Tiger Woods, etc signings. Sometimes the more popular lines start the afternoon of the day before the event even.
if you’re in your mid-20s how is your mother ‘forbidding’ you from doing anything? (That’s not sarcasm, I truly don’t understand. Is it a cultural thing?) But if you have to crowdsource if it’s ok for you to go even though you’re ‘forbidden,’ maybe it’s a sign you shouldn’t be going.

I personally don't know if I'd be comfortable sleeping on the street, but you'll be with others in line so you'll be safe. Unless you're dependent on your mom, she has no control over you. You're an adult.

The big issue is, do you have a record player and want In The Heights on vinyl? If not, then a pretty easy skip.

I left my folk’s home when I went to college at 18. Bought my own car with no co-signer by 20. Bought my own apartment at 24. How on Earth could anyone in their mid-20s still be controlled by their mothers? WTF? This millennial situation is horrific. No wonder they can’t do s**t for themselves.

Screw all that, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that some people will actually sleep out in the street to get a piece of merchandise signed. I don't care who you are or what you do, I would never give up the comfort of my own bed to sleep out on the street for you to what will amount to a 2.5 second interaction while you sign away my record with a sharpie.

Well, Old Man, if your generation hadn't destroyed the country then millennials might have the same chances that you did.

Oh please. This is the same old argument that the younger generation always hurls at the older generation. When my generation was the younger one we did it, my parent's generation did it to their parent's generation and on and on and on and on. Same old sh!t - different decade.

That is a good point. Forgive me, but this would be my first cast signing ever. Will it really be like that?

Posted: 7/29/18 at 2:13pmYes. Its super fast. You just walk down the line and they sign. They usually say hi! Or thank you! And than you move on to the next person, and than thats it. Theres really no time to talk.

Posted: 7/29/18 at 3:49pmI’ve been thinking and reflecting on this for a half and hour and I am not going to go. It’s not really because of my mom. Carlos and Bwayfan brought up great points about it being short and I don’t know a whole lot about ItH anyway. Thanks guys for your input and support.

Honey, you are preaching to the CHOIR of one's mom (ironically) being a lifelong New Yorker who is positive that her daughter will get mugged on the train or hopelessly lost in Harlem. I just turned 25 but am not yet able to live independently...I so feel your pain...

I'm here and several line sitters arrived in a clump about 5-10 min ago. There's maybe 20-25 people in line so far.

Posted: 7/30/18 at 1:35amGeez I can't believe there's so many people there already. My worry is the number of folks who are gonna wait in line just to resell and get tons of cash off of the autographs. Good luck to anyone who's camping out!
