I don't even remember how that one got sorted out. My memory just blanks after the reveal.

I saw it on 11/13 and was disappointed. Unremarkable score, monotonous sound, way too much beatboxing. And the book is just so...not smart. The gay storyline is a convoluted mess, although my favorite dumb moment goes to the straight romance, when the struggling actress (Margo Seibert) says to the fired businessman (James Snyder), "Have you ever heard the expression 'Do what you love and the money will follow'?" To which he seriously replies, "No," and then comes back to it at the end of the show as a profound revelation: "As a wise woman once told me..." Or some such nonsense dialogue. I suppose the guy *could* be so dense (especially given the reason he got fired) that he's cliché-illiterate, but the audience deserves much better writing than this.

I can't tell you how many people I know who's lives were totally f*cked by "Do what you love and the money will follow."
Anyone who says it unironically should be banished to the "It's A Small World" ride for life.

You know it's never a good sign when there's four bookwriters.

I just picked up my lotto ticket for today's matinee! The seat is amazing - AA 205. The box office guy was super nice and said the first person to pick up their lotto ticket gets the "premium seat"
I'll report back after the show :)

Saw the show tonight. While its not great, it is PACKED full of (mostly funny to me) insider NYC jokes. If you live here you will certainly find some enjoyment. If you don't live here, that could be another reason to stay away.

I was there last night and didn't care for it at all. It's cheesy, sappy, and cliche, and really doesn't belong on Broadway. The cast gives it their all but the score isn't memorable at all, and eventually starts to sound the same.

I was at the show on Sunday. It was OK. I don't understand why this show is not on every discount site available? And on TDF for every performance? It was maybe three quarters full. Wouldnt producers rather have it full at discounted prices then not full? Explain this?

We can't explain this for you.

Similar confusion regarding the lottery. I know several folks that have been unsuccessful with multiple attempts at playing the lottery. It baffles me that there would be a "lottery loser" for this show. Wouldn't they want to sell a seat for $39 rather than let the seat go empty for $0?

You mean that there wouldn't be a lottery loser discount?

I really liked the NYC jokes and feel like once you got into the world of the show, anyone could understand. There were some great surprises and I did like a lot of the songs. I really related to the struggles of the characters and I enjoyed myself and the people sitting by me did too. It was a fun night and I would love to see this again!

I saw the show this week and I have to say it was one of the worst things I've seen in 2016, and I see hundreds of shows a year. The majority of the NYC jokes weren't even funny, though they got a few good kicks at the MTA. Really really amateur writing and heavily papered on the night I was there. Too bad for the talented cast, who works extremely hard to sell it.

Ok, so do they close in two weeks or squeeze out an extra week thru Jan 1?

Supposedly their weekly is higher than any amount they've grossed so far and they've been running a month in previews so I'm guessing they've burned through any reserve by this point.

Oh, their running cost is definitely above whatever they've been making. But I just meant we don't know how deep the pockets of these producers are. Or at least I don't.

I saw it last week and actually thought it was really good! The cast is great – they land all the jokes and sound seriously amazing. Guys, an a cappella musical seems really hard to pull off but I think they do it with flying colors. And I saw it early in previews so I imagine it’s even better now.

Is that really the metric, though? Every musical I've ever been to has people singing the songs just fine... where it breaks down is what those songs are about, the characters singing them, and the story all of that serves. That said, I will go on the record as someone who wasn't waiting for an a cappella musical, so it's not a draw or a negative for me.

We don't generally grade on a curve on Broadway, for the record.

I'm sure the cast is great. The problem is the book and songs are bad, from what people are saying. No cast, no matter how talented, can compensate for weak writing.

Actually, looking at their numbers, and predicting their lackluster reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if they close on the 18th.
