THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW Previews
 Apr 16 2026, 09:30:40 AM

In 2018 the Stratford Festival in Canada produced a fantastic production of Rocky Horror. Dressing up was encouraged, callbacks were encouraged; sometimes the house staff was involved in starting the callbacks. Dancing the Time Warp was also encouraged, especially during the finale. But because the show was being performed in a historic theater and the show was repping with three other productions they limited the props. Rice, water and tp were banned. The cell phone announcement, w

The Adding Machine

This was not great and we almost fled at intermission, but decided to stick it out...mostly because at intermission the people sitting next to us were having a very heated debate about the fact that they assumed they were coming to see the musical version which they had seen in 2008. Then they started to have a debate about whether or not Nick Offerman was in the 2008 production at the Minetta Lane. I don't remember if he was or not, I almost interrupted to suggest they look it

As an equity actor on a principal Broadway contract, if you don't take any PTO, it cashes out at the end of your contract.

Apparently, the cast and crew of Wicked got pizza as a thank you from the producers for staying to do the second show.....Pizza.

When I was walking through the Gershwin/Circle in the Square pass through this morning there was a line waiting for the Wicked box office to open. I'm not sure what their matinee house looks like but their evening show is fairly well sold considering there's a blizzard. I suppose if my family were stuck in town for an extra day that would be the show I would choose to get tickets to.

She has starred in New York’s ‘worst show’ for 40 years. Why?

I worked for this woman about 20 years ago, she is a horrible human being. She makes Scott Rudin look like a saint.

They also failed to mention that this is not a commercial production, it is a subsidized production being produced by a regional theater with a subscriber/membership base that happens to have a Broadway house. There is a massive difference in budget/salaries, etc.

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES To Close January 4, 2026

That's interesting that Michael Arden took a page out of the Lempika playbook: our show didn't work so it's completely the audience's fault.

Just for clarification: the charges against Braun were dropped at the beginning of November.

Thomas Kail to direct Michelle Williams and Mike Faist in ANNA CHRISTIE for St. Ann's Warehouse
 Nov 27 2025, 02:49:20 PM

The first preview was a very odd experience to be sure. The show felt very under rehearsed, almost like we were watching an early run through. And as others have stated; when the glass bottles started falling people thought perhaps it was a metaphor, but then when they had to stop, everyone realized that it wasn't supposed to happen. I'm not sure why the people on the payroll whose job it is to make sure things like that don't happen let that happen,  but as a rule

Jonathan Groff Sets 2025 Broadway Return with JUST IN TIME?
 Nov 20 2025, 06:29:48 PM

I have a friend that works for one of the producers. They're looking for a big name replacement and aren't having much success. They have asked Michael Bublé and Justin Timberlake and both declined.

And now it'll be in a venue more than twice the size as the Simon...

I figured they wouldn't have all the levels open for this, maybe close off the top 2 but the entire house is on sale. All

Chances of a Strike?

Is Little Bear Ridge Road not on a league contract?

Chances of a Strike?
 Oct 13 2025, 11:57:16 AM

With negotiations happening this week, the earliest they would strike would be next Monday 10/20. Before the pandemic, most unions had some type of strike fund in their reserves so that if other unions chose to strike, they would be able to pay their members at least some sort of partial salary, but Covid pretty much wiped that out because a lot of people received furlough payments from their unions. So if the strike does happen, even just for a few days, it's going to hurt a lot of peopl

BROADWAY VANITY PROJECTS

Jay Lerner-Z said: "If the material isn't worth producing, then it’s a problem. Is there a Broadway equivalent of Travolta's movie Battlefield Earth?"

Yes. Disaster! The Musical by Seth Rudetsky.

Brando's estate is very controlling of his image and the licensing fee to use it is very expensive. Several years ago, Madonna was performing Vogue and she wanted to show photos of all of the celebrities that she name checks in the song and the video designer mentioned that licensing Brando's image cost more than all of the oth

How'd Cabaret and Sunset Lose So Much $?
 Aug 14 2025, 06:52:11 PM

I know that we've all discussed this before, but I think it bears repeating:
Local One Stagehands which include carpenters/automation/props/flymen/sound/electrics, make an ungodly amount of money. They get paid double time just to walk in the door on Sundays and often they don't even stay through the entire show, they leave after their last cue. But wardrobe and hair are not paid nearly as much. And most stage managers are getting equity minimum, so we can't group all of the

Beware: Masquerade Tickets can't be resold
 Aug 14 2025, 04:54:50 PM

I'll mention this here because the official preview thread is three pages away; when we went earlier this week, they were strictly enforcing the dress code and I saw them turn two people away who looked like they had followed the directions just as much as the other people that they weren't turning away.
