In 42nd Street, every time, I see Peggy Sawyer in the same, sky blue suit, with the straw hat, and a white blouse.

I worked a rehearsal dinner this past Friday and one of the guests was wearing this exact same outfit.
She didn't have dirt on her face, but from the way she wore her makeup you couldn't tell a difference.
At that same party, there was a guy wearing an outfit I'd swear I've seen on Seaweed from Hairspray. I really need to start carrying a camera with me everywhere I go.

I'd say pretty much any costume from Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera is iconic simply because they've been everywhere in almost identical forms. Especially:
-Valjean's army coat (Les Miz)
-Enjolras' red vest (Les Miz)
-Christine's dressing gown (Phantom)
-The Phantom's fedora, cloak and tux (of course...Phantom)

alot of those are not iconic...
for example... when one thinks "hairspray" people either picture the matching "welcome to the 60s" costume, or the white shirt/plaid skirt of tracys... is that iconic? maybe
Belles gold dress, deffinately!
blue tight Mimi pants... deffinately!
emcee outfit... definnately!
how about for avenue q, the puppets? lol the actors DO wear those

- Emcee's suspenders and tight pants - Cabaret
I always refer to those as the "sexy pants".
Also from Cabaret, Sally's black "Cabaret" dress.
