One f'ing funny thread.
Sorry about that, Lizzie. But in my defense, you did call her Effie. Her name is Elphie. Gawd.
But she told me she was telling me she wasn't going.
does anyone else think idina would be a phenominal effie?
Wasn't she one of the top 3 contenders to play Effie in the film-version of DREAMGIRLS? I read in EW that it was between her, Jennifer Hudson and Fantasia Barrino.
Makes you wonder if she ended-up getting the role, would SHE have won the Oscar?
I'm sorry WickedFan that you didn't know the rules about this board. Never post about anything you like. You must make it clear that you hate everything. You have to realize that all the people on this board have is their chance to jump on another poster that comes along and says the wrong thing.
It's not about that. It's the fact that discussing Wicked a million times over is f**king annoying. Give Company, Grand Hotel, or Cabaret a listen and you tell me who has the better score.
You might ask - what is so different from discussing these shows over and over as oppose to Wicked? You know why? It's because they've been around a hell of a lot longer, have more developed stories/plots and a far better score. Take Cabaret, for instance. The main backbone of the musical originated from Christopher Isherwood's experiences in Berlin during the later 1920's into the 1930's. (I highly suggest getting yourself a copy of The Berlin Stories if you haven't already). Those stories morphed into John van Druten's play, I Am A Camera and then, with the talented team of Kander & Ebb became what we now know as Cabaret. Some of the elements changed, some still remain in the production to this day.
The problem is with Wicked is that while it's a fairly decent novel (yes, I have read it), the overall product is just mediorce. There's nothing brilliant about it. Call me a cynic, but I much prefer musicals with an actual purpose, meaning, or idea behind them.
You like it, fine. Go ahead and enjoy it. Me? I'd much rather listen to Sweeney Todd.

But their food sucks.
So why are they so successful? It sure aint because of the quality of their product. "
Wasn't a very original comment!!!! Saw this on another thread...
Honestly, no. Her solo albums aren't my cup of tea.

I liked Idina in Wicked and her execution of the music was terrific. Worthy of the Tony award. But for some reason I don't have any interest purchasing her album. Not trying to be mean spirited here. Just honest.
Thank you Perfectly Marveleous, my life is now complete.

This would be funnier if it wasn't true. SUPRESS YOUR FEELINGS!

Yes, Idina was supposed to be Effie - made it to the bottom three. Unfortunately, Condon disliked the repeated character choice she made for the role: White.
Wow. I'm just floored by the originality of the jokes in this thread.
"It's the fact that discussing Wicked a million times over is f**king annoying."
LOL. The thread is titled Idina Menzel, not Wicked, and the original poster didn't even mention Idina's theatre work, let alone Wicked. Can you read? That's a lovely little rant on Wicked, Perfectly Marvelous, and I'm certainly no fan of the show, but Idina Menzel does not equal Wicked.
The funny thing about this thread is that I can't even remember the last time a thread was started about Idina Menzel, so I'm not sure what the problem is. If you hate Menzel and clicked on this thread just to pick on a young fan, I'm more inclined to laugh at you than the original poster. These days, Menzel is hardly the over-discussed topic on this board--and even if it was, get over it and get a life. It's so much more pathetic to see people obsessing over some young theatre fan's enthusiasm for a show than it is to see the enthusiasm, no matter how overzealous, itself.
To answer the original question, definitely. But it's not due out until the Fall I believe. Originally slated for the summer, but it was pushed back until after Enchanted will be released.
It makes sense to do the pushback.
BroadwayGirl, you're completely right.
You ARe right, Broadwaygirl.
My posting of that image wasn't really for any reason other than to be funny.
Yeah, Bwaygirl, you're right.
Doesn't change the fact that this thread is f*cking hilarious. And I totally just clicked on this thread because I knew hilarity would ensue...
