I have never heard it arranged quite this way. I really like it.

No offense but just a tad of restraint may have gone a long way. Just because you can doesn't mean you must.

Idina Menzel National Anthem

I don't think restraint and the National Anthem are two ideas that generally go together in song.

She is just on a roll. It sounds great.

It's the National Anthem. Please.

Her voice has something strange going on with the vibrato. It's always bothered me. She sounds, at times, like Dolly Parton on steroids. I don't find her voice pleasant to listen to. It's loud and powerful but it's a very bright belt with no warmth to it. I've thought this since "Rent". She was lucky to get cast in FROZEN. She's overrated. Just my opinion.

There's nothing 'lucky' about it. The director, producers, casting director, Disney, songwriters all thought she was amazing and wanted her in the part. She's completely slaying right now and yes, it definitely is your opinion. :)

There are probably 100 girls, easily, in NYC who could have sung the role in Frozen. Just as well as Idina did. There is always an element of LUCK to casting, unless it's the element of "who you know".

Oh sweet Jesus. Seriously? We're gonna say that she is just "lucky" to be cast in these roles?
The girl can sing. Does her voice appeal to everyone? Hell no. But there is not one single singer out there who is able to win over everyone with their voice. A lot of people adore Mandy Patinkin and love his voice. I don't. But I certainly don't question his ability to sing and say that he was "lucky" to be cast in anything. His voice just doesn't appeal to me. Idina has a very distinct voice which can divide people. But to say she is just "lucky" is stupid.

I agree with what you are saying. But what I said is there is always an element of luck in casting. How do we know that Idina was the first choice for Frozen? There are a thousand different reasons why people get cast, or don't get cast. That's all I'm saying. I've cast many roles myself. There is always a "story" behind the scene. I guarantee you there were probably three "finalists" for that role who a bunch of executives sat down and listened to.

Am I the only one hearing hints of Stephanie J. Block and Streisand in this? I think it's the vibrato.

I feel like her vibrato sounds like it always does? Nevertheless an odd arrangement. But DAMN does she sound amazing!
