Check out her site. She left a little message for her "younger fans."

From Idina's lips to God's ears...
hilarious. i'm sure none of the young girls will pay any attention to it anyway. can't wait until i have my ticket in my hand!
Yeah, I doubt this will have any effect but it could prevent some people from being disappointed.
Interesting that she calls it a play...See What I Wanna See *is* a musical, right?
I am hoping to secure tickets as soon as they go on sale for the general public to what would be closing night as that's the only night it's running while I am in New York.
A msuical is a play, but a specific kind.
Haha that's great! I love that she is aware of the average age of her fan base.
Patronus-
you took the words right out of my mouth.
I tend to disagree. A play, a musical and an opera are all different kinds of a thing called "theatre." A play is almost entirely spoken dialogue, and while there may be some music in it, the plot is mostly controlled by the dialogue. A musical incorporates both dialogue scenes and musical scenes to forward the story. An opera uses almost only music to tell it's story. That's how I see the difference.
Maybe she's calling it a play to keep the tween Wicked fans away.
A play isn't a musical, and a musical isn't a play.
Period.

That's great that she acknowledges that. Not that she wouldn't... I am so hoping to be in NY when this is showing. And that it's not sold out by the time I know.
EDIT: Maybe before taking their kids, parents will check it out to make sure it is appropriate for their aged child.
Then we get into those weird "musical play" titles...
I'd hope so...considering all the horrorfied mom's at her shows...
The horrified mothers at her shows are probably exactly why she's posting a disclaimer this time.
Does anyone know when the tickets will go on sale? I didn't realize I'd be in NYC during its run and I want to see it (especially now that I know it could be teenybopper-free).
I heard September 18 to the public, they're on sale now to season members or something.

I think you're right meagan. I want to see this, but mainly because of Kudisch. And it is LaChuisa, after all.
I really think Idina should just blatantly say "To my younger Wicked fans: Don't see the show, I won't be green." I don't know. Might work.

"Don't see the show, there ain't no stage door. Bitches! xoxo, Idina"
I'm sure (or I hope) there will be disclaimers on sites where you can buy tickets for this as well. They must know she has a very young audience who will convince their mothers to pay to see her read the phone book.

I can't wait to read reviews of her in something so different.
is there really no stage door at that theatre??
I'm not crazy or anything...I've just never been to a theatre with no stage door!

orangeskittles-- no way a little disclaimer on Idina's site and the Public's site will keep the "teenyboppers" away. They'll see it anyway, just maybe with their parents or something (if their parents even see the disclaimer). I doubt they'd ruin the performance for you though, if they are there.
And Meagan, the Public does indeed not have a stage door. Normally, the performers just come into the lobby to sign. For Idina though, they might put up barricades IN the lobby because it'd be too crazy if she just walked into the lobby every night. There's also talk of locking the doors once the show starts so that people can't come to "stage door" if they don't see the show. That should help too.
Meagan...I remember someone saying that there wasn't a stage door, and that they just come out through the regular exit. Where is your signature from? One of Dee's shows, I presume?
Until I have a ticket in my hand...I shall be patiently waiting with sudden dread if I somehow don't get a ticket. But good grief, but parents that do allow their little kids to see the show have certainly got to get their priorities straight. Though there are always exceptions. Is it really all that risque?
I'm awaiting the day where I see Idina do something non Wicked or Rent...that will make my day.

oh wow...that's crazy!
I wonder how that works...it would seem like once the doors were open people could get in as well as out...
I bet she'll just go home after...the poor woman gets bombarded.

It's the same as Circle in the Square.
The Circle in the Square techincally has a stage door.
