Type_A_Tiff...I was being sarcastic (boy, that really doesn't read well on the computer, huh?)...playing off of all the rumors that are floating around.
But, the bottom line is that I hope it's nothing serious and she can perform her last show.

I was at the matinee this afternoon. Whatever happened, happened behind the curtain as Elphaba was supposed to be melting. She didn't go through the trap door as usual - don't know if it was a malfunction that caused that. You could see someone pulling her off to the side and hear voices behind the curtain. The orchestra stopped playing and JLT was left in front of the scrim for a few minutes. Finally, JLT went off stage and an announcement was made requesting a doctor and saying they would let us know if they could continue the performance. The delay was about 30 minutes - no details were given until they announced that the show would finish with Shoshana playing Elphaba. It picked up where the curtain is drawn back and Glinda picks up Elphaba's hat. Shoshana came out for the curtain cail, but was shy and stood back while JLT took her call. Joey McIntyre then stopped the orchestra and said that Idina had been injured, but that she was very tough and would be okay and that the cast felt they owed the audience an explanation. People sitting in front of me said they got a call from friends who had seen Idina in the ambulance, still in costume, but that she was smiling and appeared to be okay.

I think she def wont be able to go on no matter what happened. Her part calls for some pretty extreme measures being carried several stories in the air with a somewhat loose harness and a plank. I really hope she is ok though and has a second shot at a last show that will end it "For Good". (im sorry i had too) Anyway, I love Idina and I def will be praying for her tonight...like i do every night. (i had too)
I can't keep up with this thread anymore. Yes, bdwaygirl, I managed to score a ticket for tomorrow... the seat is good... 'too good' if you ask me!!!
I'm just trying to imagine how the cancellation line might look like tomorrow if Idina is out! Crazy!
ETA: Thank you very much for the update, Nancyess. Good to know.

Skepp, no, it didn't read well, mostly because your remarks actually sounded more coherent (read: no bad punctuation or petty self-admiration of some folks present) and thus more credible.

i just found out: (not sure if it was posted) that idina was crushed under the stage due to the trap door malfunctioning
Source?

The melting scene is done with a trap door and lights, i believe.
As idina moves towards the screen, she gets smaller (because the light is upstage). Then as she melts, she goes down a trap door...
The trap door stuff can be seen in The Foreigner when the do the Wicked Witch melting scene....
thanks nancy for that
Just remember. You started it! Cancellation line will be CRAZY, if she is out. Might be worth a trip into the city just to watch. Whatever happens tomorrow, good luck and have fun!

When an official statement is made, where would be the best place to find it (online)? At the Wicked site?
Thanks!
Nancy - Thank you for shedding some light on what actually happened.

why would the cancellation line be crazy? Because a lot of people cancelled and so there would be a lot of tickets? I imagine a small amount of people because people wanted to see Idina and since she may not be there, people wouldn't wanna go because they can see Shoshana for a very long time now.
"im right call them and they will say the exact same thing thank you"
took your suggestion, and just called the theater. they said that she did hurt her ribs and may have broken something else and they are NOT sure about her performing tomorrow.
Nancy, that explanation made more sense than anything else I've read so far. Thanks.
WickedIsLife - I think the person meant the return line (same line as cancellation?) would be crazy with people refunding their tickets.
What we meant by saying that the cancellation line will be crazy is that the ticket return line will be crazy!!
Bdwaygirl, come to the city and watch me hoping from the ticket return line to the cancellation line.
Actually, I'll be very sad if Idina won't be on tomorrow, I was looking forward to a hell of a show!

I have a friend who knows someone in the cast and as we are both going tommorrow he called me. Idina fell during the melting scene. She steps back on trap door plateform kinda like the one used when the wizard disappears in "No One Mourns The Wicked". Well the plateform wasn't there and she fell. She has been taken to hospital and that is all they currently know.
Her understudy will be on tonight however no decision has yet been made about tomorrow; an a official annoucement will be made later on this evening.

I wonder if the Gershwin will release a statement today WITHOUT confirming whether Idina will perform tomorrow (playing it by ear) to prevent a stampede/riot at the return line.
I just got home from the evening performance Wicked lottery. No one came out and said that Idina broke her collarbone. The box office manager came out before they began calling the lottery names and said his usual about the cancellation line being full and not to buy tickets from anyone around the corner as they are fake. Then when the lottery guy was about to start picking names he mentioned something about how he has no information about who is in or not in the show. That was my first clue that something was up. He announced all the lottery names as usual, went through the line and then when he was about to say thanks for coming out for the lottery he mentioned that the cancellation line may open up again and anyone interested would have to step into the box office. I went inside and the manager said he didn't know if idina would be in or not, she was injured during the performance but would not elaborate on exactly what happened. It seemed though that there would be a lot of cancellations because they were letting all the rejected lottery winners line up.

"Bdwaygirl, come to the city and watch me hoping from the ticket return line to the cancellation line."
Well, I'm glad you didn't get your ticket off EBAY or somewhere like that.
