she was not out for the entire second act....she got hurt during the melting scene, towards the end of the second act.

Sho wouldn't fit into Idina's dressed- they're shaped differently
im calling the gershwin right now to find out the deal
That's wrong, whatyouown. I have friends who have worked as standbys for productions before. They quietly sit backstage or in the audience in their own clothes until something happens and they have to go on. Then they get changed.

I've talked to Sho and she has to be within a certain distance (radius) of the theater and she doesn't have to be in costume or anything. She doesn't sit around the Gershwin waiting for something to happen.
The Gershwin's unlikely to give you an answer until their PR people find out the scoop and send out a press release.
Guys, I don't really have all the facts either, I just got calls from friends and everyone is just a bit over-excited at the moment.
Let me change the title of the thread to make sure people don't misunderstand... sorry about the confusion.

no...I emailed Shoshana one day and asked her when she is actuly inside the Gershwin and she said she just has to be within 5 blocks of the Gershwin during the show. And my friend saw her on the street at 10:00p.m. one night when Wicked was still on untill 10:45. But back to Idina's accident...
I'm gonna call the Gershwin and see if they will actuly say anything or comment.
Gee QM, are you trying to start a riot??

I didn't think that Idina actually "melted." I was under the impression that that entire segment was projected onto the stage and wasn't actually acted out behind the curtain.

dont call the theatre---if everyone does, were not gonna find out. just wait.
If she's not better, then we should know that it is better if she doesn't go on. Although I'm not going tomorrow, I think it would be sad if she didn't go on. But we care about her health a lot more I hope..
I very highly doubt the Gershwin will be picking up the phone right now...
I am pretty sure "Dorothy" is projected, but it IS Idina's sihlouette...

If she wouldn't go on tomorrow, I'd certainly hope they'd work something out with Shoshana that Idina could go on at a later date just so she could officially give a final performance.
Bdwaygirl, I have created a MONSTER!!!!
Changed the topic of the thread! Better?

Actually, maybe it's the other way around - Dorothy has more movement than the melting witch - maybe Dorothy's a swing and the witch is projection?
ok heres the deal they dont know if she broke her ribs , shoshana will be on tonight and idina will be in tomorow , she didnt break her ribs she bruised them, by a trapped door malfunction thats it im right i taLKED TO THE THEATER im right call them and they will say the exact same thing thank you
Just talked to some friends who are at the theatre:
A man who works for the Gershwin came out and announced to everyone outside waiting for the lottery that Idina BROKE HER COLLARBONE. Shoshana is going on tonight; no word yet on what's going on for tomorrow.
I have tickets for tomorrow, and I'm going to go in expecting to see Shoshana, because breaking her collarbone is pretty serious. :-/

I'll believe you if you spell your words right and use correct grammar. By the way, by im, do you mean instant message? Or were you actually trying to say "I'm"?
Wicked4life! READ your message again. You said 'heres the deal they dont know if she broke her ribs , shoshana will be on tonight and idina will be in tomorow , she didnt break her ribs'
So they don't know if she broke her ribs but she didn't break her ribs! OK! Got it, thanks!

Are you right? haha
I suppose as long as she performs tomorrow everything will be okay. But I've had bruised ribs before, and I could barely move the next day. So I'm not sure how well tomorrow's performance will go down.
But if she has a broken collarbone, there's no way she could go on. I've also broken my collarbone before over Christmas break a few years ago. I didn't leave the couch for a week.
Those of you going tomorrow, expect to see Shoshana so you're not disappointed. No matter what the real injury is.

This is such sad news - I hope that she is okay, not just for tomorrow but for her own sake and health! Any more details would be appreciated
Idina could come out tomorrow all bandaged up and no one would care - even if it affects her singing. They'll love her anyway.
