...Then only straight men who have played Albin will have won the Best Actor TONY for LA CAGE AUX FOLLES...(since Gary Beach lost in 2004).
This thread isn't mean to cause a stir, it's just a weird notion I made while reading up on the show...

There's only been 3 possible nominees. 2 of which happen to be straight. I don't understand what you're getting at.
At theatrefan4
George Hearn - straight (WINNER)
Gary Beach - gay - (LOSER)
Douglas Hodge - straight - (PENDING - ODDS LIKELY)
If douglas hodge wins, that means every straight man who has played ALbin has won the Tony as opposed to the gay nominee.
Just noticed it out of random observation

I'm not really sure where you're going with this quizking.

It's honestly not going anywherel it's just an observation i made and i thought I would post my little musing here on bww...
If Catherine Zeta Jones wins she'll be the only Welsh actress to win for playing Desiree in Night Music.
Gary Beach wasn't all that good in a pretty lackluster revival. His being gay or straight has nothing to do with it.
If you don't have a point, why bother posting?

If Montego wins BEST LEADING ACTRESS... SHE WILL BE THE ONLY LEADING ACTRESS EVER IN MEMPHIS TO WIN BEST LEADING ACTRESS TONY AWARD. why in the hell that is in caps idfk
He was also up against the unstoppable Norbert Leo Butz in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I doubt even Hodge would have been able to beat Butz (pun not initially intended, but delightful none-the-less).
If Todd Ellison (La Cage Aux Folles) wins for BEST MUSIC DIRECTOR he'll be the first person to ever win in a category that doesn't exist!
Actually there was a Best Conductor and Musical Director category, but it was eliminated after the 1963-64 season.
I'm aware. :)
There was also a Best Stagehand and a few others that no longer exist.
I nominate this for Best Stupid Thread.
I don't think this is any different from people noting that every time Laurents directs GYPSY, Rose wins the Tony. It's just as meaningless, but more touchy because sexuality is involved this time.
I know this isn't the popular choice. But I thought Kelsey was magnificent.
I did too DAME.
I'll 3rd that about Grammer.
I enjoyed Grammer much more than the irritating Hodge.
I also thought Grammer was eons better than Hodge.
I won't be upset when Hodge wins, but my vote would undoubtedly go to Sahr Nguajah for FELA! I don't understand how Hodge has all the buzz and Sahr has zero...his performance is unforgettable.
As for Gary Beach, I thought he was dreadful in that ****eous revival.
