Like how they're doing for H2$?
I was thinking this too. With Alen Menken wanting a cast recording the producers may see this the ideal opportunity with a name in the role.
Or the producers might see this as an ideal opportunity to try and get some of the money they lost keeping the show open the past few months, back (and therefore not spend money on a recording).
Alan Menken should fund a recording himself!! I find it disgusting that he would expect the producers to..

Composers don't fund recordings, producers do. I'm not sure why you find it disgusting Menken would expect the producers to fund a recording. That's pretty standard practice.
Raven has the money to record it herself. She's a multi-millionaire mogul who got a piece of everything made with her face on it. She's like the Olsen Twins. She never has to work again if she chose to.
I was hoping the show will close on Broadway and Raven will tour.
The main reason Im pulling for this is so I can finally have a recording of Haven't got a prayer.
If she ends up being very good (she could surprise us...remember Reba...) I actually wouldn't be surprised if they recorded the entire album so there would be an American recording. If they license the show, too, then there would be a reference recording for that.

Perhaps I have the wrong image, but I just think that it is obnoxious that he'd ask the producers to 'wake up' on twitter while he is probably sitting back rich without a financial worry, when the producers are probably down millions of $$ at the moment......composers sometimes pay for recordings apparently (e.g. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS)...

Whether or not Raven is a hit, the show WILL be recorded June.... says Menken yesterday
If this is a studio recording, what do you think the chances are they will bring Patina and Clark back?
Maybe Patina will do the national tour?

Patina is taking a breather and the recording will be with Raven and CC
Patina is fabulous in the role, but I'd be interested to have Raven on the recording for variety alone.
I hope they record this as well.
Also, Frank Wildhorn wanted a cast album of DRACULA. The producers wouldn't fund it, so he went and did his own recording of it with plenty of his own money - and he is not the man with the most Oscars in the world!

We will see a CD before Raven's current contract termination. Don't worry!
If you saw Raven on THE VIEW, when the girls were surprised that Raven was a singer, she replied she made 4 CD's.
Joy said "I didn't know that"
Raven said "It's cause nobody bought them"
She has a sense of humor.
Where have people heard the cast will be recorded?

@jamiekennywicked I have "an arm and foot in the door" with the b'way production. Recently, they have thought of doing a live recording instead of studio... but we will just have to wait and see
If they do record it and I was Patina, I'd be pissed, really pissed,

^Curtain, why? Their is a recording of the show with Patina available so it's not like she'll never be recorded in the role.
I'd feel more badly for Victoria Clark. She originated Mother Superior on Broadway. Though I enjoy Carolee Carmello's performance, Clark's vocal performance was much more pleasant to the ears, and more character appropriate, in my opinion.
