I'd even cast her now - but it would have been amazing to see Carolee Carmello as Elphaba. Imagining what her "Defying Gravity" would have been like gives me chills

Posted: 4/17/06 at 3:59pmMy friend and I really wanted to tell Betty Buckley at her concert that she and Patti Lupone should do Wicked. Betty as Glinda, Patti as Elphaba. A-MAY-zing. Then, some nights they could switch!

I think Rachel York would be better as Elphaba, given her powerful belt. Her height would work in her favor there, too. Think of how imposing she'd be in "Defying Gravity."
And imho, I think she could still carry the role now. I don't think she's too old. I mean, Julia Murney is playing the role on tour right now, and she doesn't look youthful. The green makeup sort of makes Elphaba ageless in appearance anyway. BTW, I will be seeing WICKED in Boston on May 4. It will be interesting to compare this production to the original B'way cast. I look forward to seeing Julia Murney live. It will be my first time.

What about Harvey Firestien with Kristin in a Glinda showdown. I would pay top dollar to see that:
Squeaky .vs. Raspy
Perfect
Ashley Brown for Elphaba

I don't know why, but I always like to imagine Jennifer Holliday in every role...try it, it's fun (Jennifer Holliday in the little red dress in "Annie," Jennifer Holliday singing the Dick Van Dyke part in "Birdie"--
GA-RAY SKIES ARE GONNA CA-LEAR UP, PUT ON A HAPPY FACE, HUH!
She could be Elphie or Glinda, I don't care which. I'd pay cash money to see that!

I'm still rooting for Cher.
She's got all of the low notes and all of the high notes could come from a synthesizer in the orchestra pit.
It's mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeewrowrwrowrowr

Now, now, Kristin Chenoweth may have the most annoying speaking voice ever, but her upper register is to die for!
Haha, let's go operatic angle... Bryn Terfel as Fiyero!

Her voice is also what seems to typecast her.
BSM as Fiyero would be cool. And Audra as Elphaba and Marin as Glinda. And Mark Jacoby as the wizard! And Judy Kaye as Morrible. We can take a stellar cast from a stellar show and make a stellar show out of Wicked by putting them in it perhaps! Or at least semi-good fun!
