If you could see one person onstage....

I was just reading the article about Peter's vs. Merman's Mama Rose. I wondered...if there's one person you could get to see on stage as a specific character, who would it be?

Max von Essen's Dorian Gray. Enough said.
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

"I broke the boundaries. It wasn't cool to be in plays- especially if you were in sports & I was in both." - Ashton Kutcher

Stephen Sondheim's Bobby in Company. He must be the most romantically-hurt people ever. I think that would be the most spellbinding, raw emotion in existence.

I would have liked to have seen Veerle Casteleyn as Juliette in the "Roméo et Juliette - de la Haine à l'Amour".

Madame X - Ditto that!
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

The classics - anything with Julie Andrews, Ethel Merman, and/or Carol Channing, to harken back to the golden age of theater. Oh, and maybe Gwen Verdon.

I can't decide:

--Laurette Taylor in "Glass Menagerie"
--Marlon Brando and Jessica Tandy in "Streetcar"
--Streisand in "Funny Girl" and "I Can Get It For You Wholesale"
--Merman in "Gypsy" "Girl Crazy" and everything else
--Gwen Verdon in "Can-Can" "Redhead" "New Girl In Town" (with Thelma Ritter) and "Sweet Charity"
--The original cast and staging of "Follies" (especially Bennett's Mirror Number)
--The famous performance of "Cradle Will Rock" where after being shut down by the government, the cast went to another theatre with the audience in tow and performed the play from the audience while Blitzstein accompanied them on piano.

Margo,

You little hussy...you stole every one of mine!

Laurette Taylor and Jessica Tandy being tops.

Original FOLLIES would be the show I'd go back in time and see.
