In a bout of Shameless Self-Promotion...

For the past several weeks, I have been in rehearsals for a production of THE WIZ going up in Westchester County. I'm the Artistic Director of an independent non-profit theater troupe, and have assembled an ensemble cast of twenty performers from all over the tri-state (and beyond), and we run July 19-21.

In not wanting to use the board as a soapbox, I figured I'd put it out there, and for anyone interested in attending, I figure you could reply or PM me. Really just looking to get the word out as tickets are on-sale, and as all of us on here are theatergoing folk, I thought, "Why not share the good word?"

In reality, any and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Best always,
- M In a bout of Shameless Self-Promotion...

Hope you and your peeps all break legs! Have a wonderful run, Mike.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thanks, guys! Your sentiments are very hap-hap-happily received! I'm very excited to be breathing some new life into the piece! :)

Absolutely, Mike! Break a leg!

Myself, I see nothing wrong with promoting one's productions to the community here.

After all, who is the audience for off-off-Broadway productions? Theater fanatics (like me) and other actors.

(ETA sorry for the unclear writing. By "other actors" I mean "other than those in the show", not "other than myself." I am not an actor.)

I totally agree on this. My general feelings about self-promotion is that as long as you are up front about your involvement and don't go overboard spamming the board about it then by all means self-promote.

Hope that your rehearsals are going well and that you have a successful run.

What a great show!

You guys put on really great productions. I'm not going to be able to get to The Wiz because of scheduling conflicts but I hope it goes well.

Opening night is just two days away, and if this tech week is any indication, audiences are in for a treat. I'd be fooling myself if I didn't adamantly say that my heart's journeyed-off to Oz for the past however-many-weeks of this rehearsal process. I can't wait to share!

Should anyone be interested in attending, message me on here. I'd be more than happy to shed some light as to how to acquire ticket(s)!

Best,
- M :)

All the best for opening, Mike.

I think it's established that noone here consider your self promotion anything but appropriate on these boards.

As long as you are promoting honestly, it's completely legit!

I say, start a new thread called "Great new production of The Wiz!" and give details of the production!

Break legs!!
