I dont consider myself a big fan of Rap or Hip-Hop either, but I really think that people (that might have only heard bits and pieces of the score and/or a video here and there)are "stereotyping" the score. Is there rap/hip-hop in the score?
Definitely. Is the score simply rap/hip-hop?
Absolutely not !!! Its so much more !!!
As far as this video-- in the context of the show, and performed live, it might be the best number on Broadway right now. Its truly amazing !
I liked the song even out of context. The cast is so energetic and honest in their delivery. Very infectious.

Wow, that song is so awesome. I LOVE any song that has the whole cast belting it out, definitely can't wait for more.
I have such a crush on Robin!
I'm seriously obsessed with this video, especially Janet and Andrea's parts.
What's really great about this is the energy of the cast and how much fun they're obviously having, when I'd imagine that recording a cast album is usually a pretty stressful experience.

The video is great!
You can tell they filmed it during different takes as the microphones change from shot to shot.
Thanks for posting the link!

Yes I was perfrectly serious. I thought this video was horrendous. Whether or not the rest of the show is like this I don't know. I'd much rather hear country music or oldies rock and roll.
I absolutely hate hip hop but I really enjoyed the video! I can't wait to see ITH now!

LOVE IT! It's so sad how much I love the small cuts of Krysta :)
I love the shots of Lin where you can see Alex Lacamoire reflected in the glass.

Some of you people are cracking me up. Yes, hip-hop is music!!! Its got a beat, its got melodies, its got instruments... how can you say that that "music" video is not music?
And, yes, they better win the Tony!
Would love them to do "96,000" at the Tonys too, but my guess is that they will do a medley.
Maybe, "It Wont Be Long Now"/"In The Heights"/"When You're Home"?

I really love the show a lot. Robin is a friend of mine. But I must say that I am liking the demo more than the cast album. It's less orchestrated and the voices are at the forefront. I find the cast album arrangements and orchestrations a little overdone and bombastic. I'm sure I'll grow to love it eventually...but it just seems like it doesn't put the voices on display like the demo does.
oh, I think the arrangements (orchestrations) make everything SO much better. I'm so excited for the cast album.
the music seems to lose its "pop"... its flavor... when it's just percussion, bass, and piano.
Testing1232,
I would assume they would want to do a song that mainly showed off their nominees, so maybe 96,000 or En Washington Heights for Lin and Robin and a bit of Pacienca y Fe' for Olga?
