I just sampled it on the RENT website. One of my favorite songs, Contact, is not included. Am very impressed with Rosario Dawson. And from the 40 second clips I heard, Adam Pascals voice sounds less rough. I have decided to wait for the movie before I purchase the soundtrack.
Question: Is the song called "Contact" going to be in the movie? I've always hated that song.
Contact is not going to be in the movie. That was announced months ago.
Thanks! I haven't been following the RENT movie as well as I should have [:)]

Is it a double disk set? Also, has anyone gotten the collector's edition covers or whatever some people on here were talking about? Is it neat/worth it to buy? Help me out, please!
Just got it. I almost fell up the steps getting home.
It's loading into iTunes right now.
By the way, I got Roger.
Em I'm soo shocked! Roger-really?!?! *smirks* I still have a few hours til I get my hands on it. I can't wait!!
Well, you know, I couldn't decide last night!
Barnes and Noble at Lincoln Center had them behind the counter. I bolted down the steps and ran over asking for it. They gave me a big pile, one of each character. I saw the green and I was like "THAT ONE!!"
I need to head to BN and get mine. I am sure that that is the only place I will be able to get it from.
"Rent" is FAST. Hm.
I do miss Contact, and it will take some time to get used to the dialogue not being there - During "Rent" I keep saying = wait, there is something missing. Same with You'll See - I keep wanting to hear "that boy could use some Prozac" or . . . it seems to end abrubtly, but that is probably because I am so used to the OBCR.
I wonder if taking Contact out is what gave it the PG13 rating. If you had that song and some of the related actions in the film, that might have pushed it into the R rating.
LVB and OTM both seem a little slower, but I still like them.
Unlike others, I think LMC is fine - and it appears that it is not straight singing but singing/acting.
Tango Maureen I actually like more. The added dialogue is cute between Joanne and Mark.
TMOLM still rocks.
I'll Cover You is just beautiful.
All in all, pretty happy.
GloryGloryGloryGlory.
Somebody hold my hand.

Em, there've been some comments made by other board members that Adam wasn't up to snuff. Tell us your verdict. Is he still Pascal-erific?
I'll wait til the CD's done playing for the "verdict."
His voice doesn't sound like it used to -- not JUST on this CD, but in general. He's matured. And the way he sounds on the RENT CD (original) is totally different from the way he sounds now, or the way he sounded the first time I heard him. So even though that's "Rent" Adam, that's not his voice as it was when I fell in love with it. So, maybe I'm biased. Maybe I just want to believe in him no matter what. Maybe I'm just blindly in love.
He's going to be fine.
HE SQUEAKED!!
So far, LMC sounds the most drastically different, instrumental wise. I don't dislike it, though.
Yeah, but the squeak was cute - if you are talking about when he responds to the ass comment. Like he was caught looking and surprised. At least to me.
I love it! The squeak!
I really, really like the sound of the music in Today 4U. It sounds so much... bigger.
But, I got thrown a bit by Christmas Day vs. Christmas Eve. Something else in the timeline that will make more sense when I see the movie.
YES! The put the "where'd you learn to Tango?" on the CD!
That threw me, too. But it makes sense that they've extended the timeline a bit.
The changes in the lyrics only throw me off a bit. It's not bad and makes sense for the changes in the movie, but it's just going to take some time to get used to.
Out Tonight is so gooooooooooooood.
Speaking of the "learn to tango" part, yesterday I saw a girl in my building wearing a hoodie that said "Miss Porter's School". I already know she likes Rent, so I laughed.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I'll admit I didn't want to read every post on every thread looking...
Anyone else think Adam sounds a little nasally and well, not Adam?
I really like Santa Fe

i love the new recording.. adam isn't as great as the OBC, but he's great on Glory. although I love Daphne, I think Rosario's pretty voice (and sexy body) will appeal to more people. I know a lot of people who aren't into musicals who think Daphne's voice is "Weird". I think this cd is GREAT and can't wait for the movie.
