Where the heck did this recording come from? And who are these people? So random.
After listening to some clips, I'm guessing that the "London Theatre Orchestra and Cast" are a dude with a pretty good synthesizer and some of his friends from the local jr. college.
Are the vocalists American or are they putting on American accents?
Album was released this year, it seems. Perhaps they're hoping for casual fans of the movie to mistakenly buy this album.

I listened to it the other night on Spotify. It's a very average studio recording. Nothing good, but nothing laughably bad.
This group has been releasing terrible studio recordings of musicals for at least a decade. Back in (I think) 2005, I received their version of "The Lion King" as a present from a friend who mistook it for a London Cast Recording. I believe that's also on Spotify. It is hilarious, complete with made-up gibberish in place of the African language lyrics.
Here it is. It must be heard to be believed:

I was so shocked with their laughable recordings - I even told Alan Menken about the Little Shop of Horrors one! Whilst he had no power to remove it (??) he certainly wasn't happy!
They're giving London theatre a bad name - that's for sure!

I have to imagine that similar mistaken purchases are source of the majority of their sales. And you weren't kidding about that Lion King recording. Unbelievably bad. I'd love to know who's behind this organization. Quite the snakeoil salesman/woman.

@jimmycurry01 I decided to listen to the sample from Hello, Little Girl (probably my least favorite song from one of Sondheim's superlative scores) and I laughed out loud. So some of them Are laughably bad! I feel bad for the chumps that receive these off-brand recordings as gifts.

I'd like to know who these people are as well. I'd also kind of like to see the faces of the poor people when they put these things into the CD player and hear it for the first time. :P

This is similar discussion; cheesy off-brand/no-name recordings.
