Right, Jordon. They could sell 100 tickets and break the record with today's prices.
:)
Still, I hope it does well.
... and thanks for the laugh, DAME!

Posted: 12/25/14 at 10:21amI think it is up to $16 in some theaters in Los Angeles. BTW if you look in the arclight seating charts the movie today is selling very well.

I'm seeing Into the Woods at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood and the tickets are $26 each... I can see a musical/play at the Ahmanson Theatre & Pantages Theatre for their cheapest ticket price of $25.. Taking my little brother (12yo) with me.. we both saw the original broadway cast dvd, so we're prepared.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year everyone :)

Posted: 12/25/14 at 11:46amTuesday in Kentucky at Cinemark tickets are $5 all day. But I didn't mind paying a bit more to see it early.

Posted: 12/25/14 at 12:04pmI just paid $9 for tickets at a theater in Secaucus, NJ. This theater has individual recliners.

I'm seeing this in a few hours today for the matinee price of $9.25 (Canadian).
It's only in 2440 theaters, which is on the low side, so it probably won't threaten the boxoffice totals of the most recent musicals.
For comparison:
Les Miserables (2012)- 2814 theaters, $148.8m domestic, $441.8m worldwide
Mamma Mia! (200
- 2976 theater, $$144.1m domestic, $609.8m worldwide
Chicago (2002)- opened limited in 77 theaters and expanded up to 2701 theaters, $170.7m domestic, $306.8m worldwide.
Mamma Mia was a beast worldwide while Chicago was huge domestic but didn't do very well overseas.

26 dollars!? Our local theater does regular first run movies for 7.50 at night, 5.50 matinee.
Granted, our jaws hit the floor when we saw they lowered the prices to that about six months ago, but certainly no one is complaining!

The El Capitan $26 admission price includes a popcorn, a drink, premium seating at the historic theater, and access to a gallery of costumes from the film. General admission is $14-$16.
The LES MIS thread was two years ago, not last year. Time flies.
It could!#22
Posted: 12/25/14 at 3:34pmIt could theoretically be a massive hit, we have the numbers of Frozen and Maleficent and people love Disney if the impossible happened and they matched that then it could be a big draw for a musical, I don't think this will reach the heights of those but with a budget of $50,000,000 if this makes even $150,000,000 it will still be a success and I expect it will definitely hit the 200 million mark once it hits over seas.

Posted: 12/25/14 at 3:38pmYou must have gone for the fancy seats at that price. Friends went to same theater and General Admission for the afternoon showing is 14.00.
