From the Roundabout seating charts, it doesn't look like it's selling so well. And with the fact that it just got thrown into the season last second doesn't help with single ticket sales either.
I've had trouble wondering how the Roundabout will market Rapture. I think this is a niche show and I dont know how this will go over. Selling this show will be tough.
I'm sure they're expecting previews to be a little lean, in terms of attendance, given that the show was announced less than two weeks ago. There is obviously no advance. They're banking on word of mouth, rave reviews (like they got off-Broadway), and a Tony or two to sustain the run.

I'm thinking Roundabout is prepared to take a big loss with this show.
They didn't have to pay for new production elements and the cast is small. After the raves it's sure to get, followed by inevitable Tony nominations, I think it could prove to be quite the cash cow for Roundabout. And that theatre isn't exactly gigantic.

It's serving its purpose. Nothing more. Roundabout needed a cheap, easy, and already-polished show to fill a vacated slot in their lineup. I guarantee you nobody at the Roundabout is or was expecting this to be a cash cow.

Wasn't Studio 54 far too big for WISHFUL DRINKING (or as others call it - Wishless Drinking)?
WISHFUL DRINKING fit just fine. And the American Airlines is NOT a big theatre. While I'm not a big fan of Sherie's, she's got a voice (*cough*and ego*cough*) that could fill Radio City. The show may not be successful, but it's serving it's purpose.

How can you not love Sherie's huge ego? I think it's the best thing about her!
I think the show will have a rough time ticket sales wise in the beginning but after reviews and Tony Noms come out they will pick up. I can wait to see the show again tonight!

Huh?
^^I was saying I love Sherie's ego.
I guess in all these years, I've never noticed said "ego".
I don't notice an ego either, certainly no different than most people working consistently on Broadway.
...the American Airlines is NOT a big theatre
You could have fooled me.
Ms. Scott's little cabaret act will run its course at probably 50% capacity, she may take it on the road to 5 or 6 markets, and then we can all move on.
Compared to other theaters, the Airlines isn't huge. I saw an interview with Sherie yesterday where she said that people have made it very clear to her she's "not a name". The woman is no fool, she knows she's not going to be selling out the house every night. But for what this show is, I expect it to be received very well and have its attendance growing each week, especially after the reviews come out.

I was sorry to have missed this last year and am hoping to catch up with it sometime during the next several weeks. I usually don't ask this, but can anyone tell me the running time? And does it have an intermission? Reason I'm asking is that I have a ticket for the 5:00 matinee of Bloody, Bloody A.J. for May 15th. If this is short enough, I can get downtown on time; if not, I'll have to try for another date. Can anyone help me on this, please?
The show is around an hour and a half with no intermission.
This show was literally thrown on the stage of the American Airlines at the last second as a replacement. Therefor, I am sure that the folks at Roundabout are not expecting this to be their high grossing show of the season etc.

Yup. They have five theaters. They need to pay the rent.

I thought BBAJ only extended to May 9th? Is it playing longer than that?

Is that a joke? Her one woman show was titled YOU MAY NOW WORSHIP ME. Regardless of the fact that it was meant to be comical, there is no denying the woman thinks she's amazing. Not to mention the countless reports of her phoning in performances and her stage door demeanor.

You're absolutely correct -- my ticket is for May 8th. Sorry 'bout that -- don't want to be spreading any false rumors. Three lashes and all that.
Ed you'll be fine. I'm seeing Rapture at 2 and Andrew Jackson at 5pm too (a week earlier). Rapture is 90 minutes (as is AJ, in case you have an 8pm show as I do). Plenty of time to hop on Subway to Public.
Rapture fit very well into the American Airlines.
Is that a joke?
No.

It was completely tongue-in-cheek. Did you miss that?
Not to mention the countless reports of her phoning in performances
Where are these countless reports from? Every show I've ever seen her in, she's practically stolen the show. She was the only thing that made sitting through The Little Mermaid bearable.
her stage door demeanor.
What the hell does that have to do with anything? She owes you nothing at the SD. I'm sorry she didn't take a picture with you or sign your playbill. Get over it.
