I know this ends in a week in the west end and is produced by Sonia Friedman…it got great reviews..and Rylance sold well in his last show…was wondering if anyone heard if this is coming to Broadway soon? I could see this taking the Jacobs till early new year before the outsiders comes in…

This is a show I was really looking forward to and in the end thought it was "fine". There's nothing about this one that I think demands a transfer, hell I hadn't even thought of it again since I saw this thread pop up. Just a very mediocre show on a pretty interesting subject.

It’s about time we got Mark Rylance back over here in something.

Oh I’m aware, I was just making a general comment that I want to see Mark Rylance in something.

Saw this show a few weeks ago, and in contrast to my comments about OPERATION MINCEMEAT (which I loved and think should transfer), this one should absolutely not.
I love Mark Rylance, but this was the first performance of his I've ever seen that felt like he was playing himself, or what people think he is (as an actor, rather than really getting into a character). I felt that the play was very poorly written and directed - attempting to throw every theatrical device in a kitchen sink approach to be "Brechtian" and make the audience feel uncomfortable and a main character who while brilliant, seems like an awful human being who is always played at an 11/10.
The rest of the cast really tries, but I found this to be a stunningly disappointing show and nearly left at intermission. Just my personal view, but I think Broadway audiences would not be happy with this kind of show and WOM would be pretty bad.

This was a show I had high expectations for, but ultimately, I found it to be rather "average." I haven't felt any strong inclination to recommend it or discuss it further since stumbling upon this thread. It's simply a mediocre presentation on an otherwise intriguing subject.
