I see where Namo is coming from and I have to agree that glee is one of those shows that hit really big but then peter out. I don't see it having a particularly long run either. Realistically how long can they really sustain a series about high school students before the actors playing them start looking long in the tooth.

I don't know that the fans will actually care. They don't seem to need logic, reason, plotlines that have been thought out or even natural sounding singing. What's a few over the hill teenagers at this point?
lol after all the stuff you have called me in the past lets not get hung up on me using the word idiot shall we, nobody likes double standards.
I agree with you about Twin Peaks (loved that show) the difference is that Glee is a part of the culture of merchandise. Its albums sell huge, so do singles etc etc. The money which will be coming in from that show will easily get it to the end of a 4th season.
It will easily reach 100 episodes purely because of its global finance through pick ups and merchandise. This is not the kind of show that will losse a few million and the network will pull because they know this show is far bigger than the USA.
Also with Season 2 getting the post superbowl slot that will pick up some great figures for the show which should easily bounce it through 2 more seasons after that (look at the effect that slot had on Greys)
To add to the Twin Peaks thing as well, the show started to fail badly in season 2 when they revealed the killer of Laura, at that moment everyhing what was great about the show changed, the answers that the audience was waiting for was given so people tuned out. Glee does not have that kinda hook, its hook is the music, fun and cast.
On Cougar Town
I think it's a good idea to change the title, as Phyllis Rogers Stone pointed out it does not represent that show anymore now it's switched directions.

I think they are going to call it Florida Friends.

You see, Phyllis, GLEE will have to lose its American audience for it to be cancelled, as songanddanceman2 stated, which was my point to begin with.
I know we were meant to be impressed by GLEE getting the post-Super Bowl lead out hour, but apparently songanddanceman2 doesn't know quite how meaningless that is. Unless of course he's still watching those other international post-Super Bowl hot properties as "The John Laroquette Show," "Extreme," "Davis Rules," "Grand Slam," "Brotherhood of the Rose," "Hard Copy," "The Last Precinct," "Magruder and Loud" and "The New Perry Mason."
I don't see the majority of hard core Super Bowl viewers even caring to watch glee...that's just a strange combo if you ask me.

That's a stereotype! Just like a sassy black gal. Or a butch gym teacher! Or show queen! Oh wait...

What you are forgetting the Namo is that unlike most of thise shows you mentioned Glee already has a great fan base with great ratings to begin with. Also the post superbowl logic (not saying i agree) is that the TV belongs to the women, gay audience etc when Superbowl is done for the night.
Also, i would not be suprised if Glee uses that timeslot and the superbowl as a hook for their own show.
Also with the 'how long can these teenage charachters stay in high school etc"
They did with Andrea for years in Beverly Hills 90210 lol
Stand-alone episodes would be great... if the stories within the episode were intriguing and the characters didn't end up in the exact same, predictable places they were in at the start. A fun show that definitely lost its mojo once it started becoming popular. It's also one of those things that I've started to like less and less once it went mainstream. Kind of like how I'd feel if I actually liked Wicked.

Absolutely no point you make refutes my prediction, although you almost just refuted your own. The Super Bowl thing will have no impact on a show that already has a fan base. None. It will not bring in anybody who has already chosen not to watch it.
Glee's going to be just like every other recent hour-long show that started out with a bang and then hemorrhages viewers from the second season onward. Heroes. Lost. Ugly Betty. One more for the heap, that's all it is.

We're only in Season 1 and already the storylines are bad, the camera work is bad and the singing is autotuned. Unless something changes, it may limp through Season 2, but it won't go beyond that.
Will Glee make it to nationals? We really don't care anymore. None of those rotten kids deserve to make it to nationals. I say ditch them and focus the show on Vocal Adrenaline.
The series will be syndicated by cutting it to a 30 minute show which just features the songs.

Sorry, songanddanceman, it's true.
Also, if they make the mistake of trying to expand the Glee Cash-In Live Tour beyond the four dates that are booked, expect a backlash not seen since Diana Ross's aborted fake Supremes tour.
The reviews of the show in Phoenix put a lot of focus on how little people got for the upwards of $75 they paid for their seats: actors in color coordinated street clothes and a performance that was one-hour long.

Not to mention they seems to put out a new cd every month. Are people actually buying these things?

All the signs are there for another hour-long American TV series crash and burn, but to point them out means one "must be an idiot."

Well it's kind of hard to sing "Flo she don't know, cause the boy she loves is a Romeo" when the woman is dead.

Actually, I admit to buying the Madonna CD... haha
Yeah, I can't see this being as popular as it is now a couple seasons (or even one) down the road. I'm sure it's an expensive show to produce, and with waning popularity, it's going to go the way of Ugly Betty and Heroes. And can all of these character (and actors) believably be in high school after three seasons tops?

Man...do not get me started on that aborted Diana Ross and the Fake Supremes tour.
There was an article on here that was about Patti Lupone saying how much she loves Glee. Honestly, I didn't think she would like it. The only thing I disagree with is that she hopes that Glee will get people to go see a Broadway show. I don't know if that will happen, but here's to hopin'!

Patti's saying nice things just because she wants to sing on the show. When was the last time she sang on tv? During her own series? Will & Grace didn't let her sing, Ugly Betty didn't let her sing.

She sang on 30 Rock earlier this month. For like three seconds. And not a solo.
She just wants them to do an Evita song and to get royalties and airtime from it.
