Both. They've kept three songs from the original (Silly Song (just its yodels), Heigh Ho, Whistle While You Work) but removed all the operetta-style ones."
To be honest, I loved "One Song" for the Prince. Does he sing in the film?

I knew this would be the reaction. I knew this from the moment I heard Pasek and Paul were writing new songs.
I look forward to seeing the verse you speak about though

Kiss of the Spider Woman - Still no distributor... Feb 6
2025, 02:14:01 PM
I have no doubt this will be distributed somewhere. I think if that "tax-write off" route was what they were going for, they wouldn't have screen it at a film festival.

Casting Knowledge- How? Jan 21
2025, 09:04:45 AM
Think how many people are involved in casting, or people who work at the studios where they hold auditons. So many people know before its announced. Its just the world we live in. The access to the information is everywhere. I'm sure this was the same case in the 60's, etc.

50th Anniversary Revival of A CHORUS LINE still on track for 202 Jan 8
2025, 10:06:57 AM
As some who had seen the film version on tv once, I was excited when TKTS had tickets to the revival on the 4th of July 2007 (the only other show that night was Phantom). I saw the show, and saw the full cast, minus Deidre Goodwin who was out. I was a big fan after seeing the show. I understood why it was hailed as a great show.
Cut to a few years later seeing the tour when it came to my town a little over a year after I saw it on Broadway, and I thought something was m

Whatever Happened to Singin In the Rain Musical? Dec 17
2024, 08:48:50 AM
I feel like with Singin in the Rain, it is almost exactly the movie script on stage, and I will admit that the 2 times I have seen a stage musical of the show, its a good time, The dancing has been great, but I think it almost falls into the "The Sound of Music" catagory of shows with very successful movies, that are done regionally a lot, so why do we need this on Broadway?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang remake in development Dec 13
2024, 11:13:47 AM
I never saw the stage version of the show, but I finally watched the film a few summers ago for the first time, after only seeing clips.
The film seems like they took two short films, and connected them together to make one larger film.

Travel Tips - Best months to visit NYC? Dec 10
2024, 08:46:25 AM
Two of the times I went to NY (first week of July and the week between Christmas and New Years) to be the best. I say that because those weeks shows had alternative schedules, so there were options for shows when there usually wasn't any (a Friday matinee of Curtains with the full cast, or a Thursday matinee preview of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with Scarlett Johansson when there was still a "Ghost Skipper"). The only downside to those is that the December date can get expensive for

And how about Kristin? Dec 10
2024, 08:39:33 AM
genuine question for those who remember...in the thread above, it mentions Joel Grey extending with Idina. However, I believe the July 18th performance as Norbert and Kristin's last performance was also Joel's final. I remember seeing the bootleg, and Sean McCourt was the Wizard for a while. Anyone know what happened?

Where will Harry Potter go if it continues with its longsit downs? Could it be Boston or back to San Francisco and Toronto or maybe Cleveland? Cannot think of any other cities that would sustain a long sit down?"
I doubt Toronto. They don't have a great track record of bringing back shows that weren't hits the first time around.

NYT: Everyone Else Is Giving a Standing Ovation. Do I Have To? Nov 11
2024, 12:16:00 PM
In onr of the extra interview clips from "Broadway: The American Musical" doc on PBS, Stephen Sondheim spoke about this exact thing. To paraphrase what he said: "People nowadays, feel the need to stand up and ovate something, reguardless of the quality of the show. Most of these people only see one or two shows a year, they pay for dinner, parking, hire a babysitter, etc. They want to be a part of the evening. They have put so much into this one evening. So, what do they do to

Name a song from a musical you were sorry to lose in its film version as well as one you were happy to gain. Oct 25
2024, 08:53:02 AM
Not really answering the question, but I want to point out my thoughts
Beauty and the Beast: holds such a special place in my heart, but I'm not crazy about the new songs for the 2017. The thing with Evermore, is that I feel like it bring the film to a screeching hault. It's too late in the story to introduce this new expansive feeling. I know The Mob Song is techically a new song (which comes after Evermore), but it is that scene that begins (what I call) the final minutes. Sh
