I was insanely excited to see Lane and Laurie Metcalf in this show, and I’ve heard nothing about it in forever. Is there still plans to get a production with them going before long?
I haven’t heard anything about it but I figured the pandemic has torpedoed this for a while and it may be too late by the time they are willing to do it.
Im still hoping we’ll get that revival of “Virginia Woolf” back first.
It was a Scott Rudin project, and not one that had even started to take tangible shape. So no, for now it’s safe to assume that it’s not happening.
Like I said in some other threads about Our Town - it’s POSSIBLE that Rudin will pass the project along to one of his partners, or that another producer will buy it off him. But that scenario would require some unknown entity to make an active choice to take on that burden, to basically build the production from scratch. Sure, it could happen, but that kind of speculation is totally theoretical. If it happens, great, but it’s not the sort of thing that’s worth keeping on our collective radar, until we get any news to the contrary.
I was about to mention that I'm guessing it's probably in the same boat as the previously announced Dustin Hoffman-led revival of Our Town.

I’m nothing if not consistent!
EDIT: Jeffrey, I saw the first version of your post before you edited - and I’m flattered lol!
I’d LOVE for the Wendell Pierce version that was in London a couple years ago to transfer here. Sharon D. Clarke could win even more awards if she does it again, too!

PLEASE.
it's quite conceivable, considering everything, that the option expired without being renewed.
If Nathan, Joe, and Laurie REALLY want to do it, they can find some other producer to pick up where Rudin left off.
But as Hogan said, if Rudin's option did indeed expire, then the Miller estate has a choice of the Marianne Elliott/Sharon Clarke/Wendell Pierce production (which may be more prescient but more risky), this production, or a separate Salesman altogether.
Or, you know. Just wait and let Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Mike Nichols linger in our minds a little longer. It's not like Broadway NEEDS another Salesman. It's still barely 10 years since that revival.

My Mantra is ... the more Metcalf, the better.

I was thinking the same thing
