As much as I loved Patti LuPone's performance in Gypsy... I couldn't help but notice she still has touches of the Eva accent, especially when she sings. Has anyone else noticed this?

Correlation=/=causation. Consider it's a third factor (playing herself), that caused her to have the same accent in both

That wasn't an accent, it's just her poor diction.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

I saw Patti LuPone in EVITA twice in September 1980. I was 15 years old.

To me, she's been playing Eva Peron in EVERYTHING I've seen her since.

Here is what the Broadway Theatre looked like (circa September 1980) during the original Broadway run of EVITA. That entire block looks nothing like that anymore.:

This thread made me go and crank up the ol' Original Broadway Cast Recording a/k/a Premiere American Recording. Love LaLuPone as Eva Peron, although I wasn't yet going to the theater when EVITA was in it's original run.

I do remember walking by the theater countless times though and staring at the photos in front of the Broadway Theater wondering what the show was about. I also remember the EVITA television commercials that ran on local New York City television to promote the show. I still had no clue what the show was about but I did know the song "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" because it was a pretty well known song.

I remember when THE WIZ was running at the BROADWAY they had a painted mural of Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion on the side of the building.

I saw The Wiz there twice. I remember dropping my cousin off to see it and when we headed around the corner, past that lot at the corner I ran into Stephanie Mills sitting outside eating a pb&j before a matinee. Got to chat with her a bit. I think we were going to see "Annie".

In the second picture, you see a billboard for the automat Horn & Hardart. My uncle used to say it should be called Corn & Hardfart.
