Is Tony Yazbeck leaving A Chorus Line?- Page 3

The first time I saw the show there were four actors out (Charlotte, Natalie, Chrissie, and Heather) and when the cast came back on for the rehearsal number of "One," Alisan had left and her U/S took her place because she threw her back out. Natalie's U/S was amazing IMO. Charlotte's U/S...another story.

But the second time I saw the show the ENTIRE original revival cast was in and I must say...I enjoyed it more that time. The dynamic was better.

Sometimes I'm excited when I see an understudy. When I saw Piazza for the second time I saw Patti instead of Victoria and she was sensational!

But y'all are right...it's completely different for a tourist who doesn't know a lot about theatre. To them it is as if the show won't be as good.

Before Chryssie goes out to LA she said that she is doing a three-person play down in DC in the fall.

Jessica Lea Goldyn - Staying

Paul McGill- Staying

JT Lane - Staying

D Goodwin - Staying

Yuka - Leaving to do another show...guess which one.

Cortez - Pretty confident she is staying

Whitehead - Leaving to pursue other opportunities. I don't think she wanted to play the same ditzy character for another 6 months-1 year.

Ken Alan - Not asked back.

Yazbeck- Not asked back.

Brad Anderson - Not asked back. Moving to L.A. and plans to attend culinary school.

Alisan Porter - Not asked back but also wanted to leave to work on her music career in L.A.

Paternostro - Wanted to leave to do other things and move to L.A. where he owns a home.

Parcells - Staying. She is getting married this summer.

Davi - Heading to Drowsy Chaperone.

I wish I could say how I thought Yazbeck was, but he was out the day I saw A CHORUS LINE.

And by the way, Berresse and d'Amboise are staying -- both were asked back. Tyler Hanes was asked back but is choosing to leave and pursue another project.

Surprised Yazbeck wasn't asked back if this is the case. He's only missed once when I saw the show. I thought he was excellent.

I am glad Heather Parcells is staying on though.

Tyler was asked back but decided against staying. So far it looks like he and Mara Davi would be the only ones leaving on their own?

Jeffrey Schecter and Jason Tam were two that weren't listed and I haven't heard either way about them.

J. Elaine Marcos (who played Connie for a week or so during her vacation from "The Wedding Singer" while Yuka Takara was out on medical leave) will be permanently taking over the role July 24th.

Other future replacements that I know of so far are Nick Adams (replacing Tyler Haynes as Larry,) Krysta Rodriguez (replacing Alisan Porter as Bebe,) and understudy Michelle Aravena (temporarily replacing Mara Davi as Maggie for six weeks until a permanent replacement is brought in.)

I'm happy to see Marcos coming in as Connie. I saw her in December and actually took to her more in the role.

Shame to hear there is so much backstage brewing going on, I'm sure in the beginning everyone was probably so excited...and now a year later, it's amazing to see half the cast leave, especially if it is indeed true that it's not under the best circumstances.

Brad Anderson's leaving the business for good, I guess. That's sad.

I believe I heard Alisan was the worst at attendance. It's sad to see her go, but I'm very excited for Krysta.

DottieD'Luscia, I was given the impression that the permanent replacement has been cast.

From what I understand, the girl they got isn't available to start until a bit after Davi leaves (hence the understudy going on for the six week period in between Maggie's.)

Rehearsals for GYPSY started for the principals on June 11, the rest of the cast came in on June 18. Yasbeck is leaving Chorus Line in about a week. GYPSY opens on the 9th.

Tam was asked back but is not renewing but will be around for a bit longer since he was out for about a month shooting Beyond the Break earlier this year.

Schecter is renewing.

I don't think there is bad blood all around. I am sure some feelings have been hurt but that is the way show business works sometimes.

I go to the school Chryssie Whitehead went to/taught at [AMDA LA]-- i hope she comes back to teach. i would LOVE that.
